I set up an account some time ago, dont really use it much, but thought if others here are using it, we can all add each other as friends. I could use a few more myself :) If interested, send me a request and I will join yours.

I may get around to playing with the appearance one of these days. Too many things on my plate, or I'll just let my daughter do the page for me. She's pretty good at that stuff.

I am the same way. My wife noticed he left the page open on her computer, so I thought it would be a good time to work on it for a few, add a few photos, etc. as it is bland. Let your daughter have at it, she might have fun and you might end up with 1,100 friends ;)

    MySpace. Geeze....

Puppies, and kitties, and dolphins and unicorns, and multiple embedded videos and mp3s, and static photo backgrounds, and illegible font colors, and pathetic photos where it's obvious someone else got cropped out.

And then there's my nextdoor neighbor from 32 years ago I never would have found any other way...

Why doesn't somebody create a type of myspace for major geeks? you could call it like getting to know the geeks or something. it could be associated with major geeks, but you could have a seperate site for it. You guys will probably think it's a gay idea, but i hate myspace and the people on it. If i was going to talk to anyone on the internet it'd be you guys here at major geeks cause i don't really have a whole lot of friends.....well i have the guy that i work with and my fiance and that's pretty much all i talk to anymore. this place rocks and i just wanted you guys to know i finally feel like i fit in somewhere.

Wouldn't this just replicate what we already have at MGs to a greater degree? We each have a profile, we can PM and use the lounge for general off-topic stuff. OK..so we don't have bulletins and lots of pretty little glitters and crap, but that's ONE thing I like about MGs...it ISN'T myspace :)

Myspace isn't that bad. I tracked down some friends from high school with it and it helps keep track of bands I really like that aren't really main stream. Some people do take it too far, though. And it's more fun to lurk around here and learn stuff than to jack around there.

That is one cool thing about it, you can find people you may not have seen in years.

The main thing I don't like about myspace, is that it is geocities of the 90's, coming back to haunt us all over again.

But, I'll have to remember my password to myspace that I create a long time ago, to check it out. Hrmm, can't even remember which of my many email accounts I used to login. I know I logged in last year, 4/17/2005. Haven't logged in since.

Okay, found an email. Got in, will add MA to my friends list. As soon as I figure that out. :)

Got it. Well, GeoCities was really just free web hosting, it didnt have the social connecting that they have now, but yeah, it was annoying :)

The only thing is that instead of writing crap pages yourself, you've got to use CSS to hack the pages that they give you! :p Heh, fantastic!

  22. matt.chugg

    matt.chugg MajorGeek

you can actually insert terminating tags too goldfish and block the entire page, insert an overlay div and make your own page.

At one point I did replace the whole page with a giant flashing gif with yellow and magenta :p It's horrible!

I KNOW I'm too old but I still can't fix my 13yr old's MS problem. In the course of my research though, Estima8tor, you will undoubtedly enjoy this post:

"...so there is this site called myspace for people to put up there profiles and pics and comment for friends and whatever. my ex started seeing someone and they finally made it official. i was fine until i went on his site. he changed his staus to 'in a relationship' and put up a picture of her. she is sooo beautiful all i could do is break down in tears....it hurts soooo bad, i cant take it..."

I don't know if I can take it either.....

  31. Major Attitude

I refuse to believe that in any way whatsoever. Until your wormfood, you are never too old for anything your capable of doing :)

  32. twosticks

    twosticks Private E-2

Gahd to I hate to say it: but I think you got it right, both ways: "old" is not being capable of doing certain things you used to do. I'm 60, I work with preschool children, special needs kids and feel really blessed that I enjoy them and that the kids like me. But man if I do any lifting or 'rough house' play I turn into a basket case....no, a bed case, with ice packs etc etc.

But what amazes me is to see this really old guy around here, I see him every day at a certain time when I drive down this road. He's in his 4 wheel scooter, with 4 American flags (one at each corner, small flags) his Vet's hat on. Makes me feel ashamed when I whine.....:D

  33. Major Attitude

LOL, hey you just do whatever your capable of. IMHO, you start out a child, no hair, bald and just silly. Then as you grow up, you do stupid things, learn from it and grow up, have kids and a family, turn into your parents, then start a slow descent into childhood again as all the hair falls out and you can act like a child again because you have done it all :)

hehe, I added ya Timmy, I spend lot of time there because i reconnected with scads of people I had 'long lost' so it's been great. I dont believe in people collecting though,s o i actually know all the people on my list.

Just met with an old friend yesterday I had not seen in 20 years. While it was not through MySpace, I like to keep my name out there for people to find me. My friends does not have a pc at which point I told her if she did, she just had to Google my name and she would have found me years ago :)

Added. LOL.... I figured I was about the only one here who would have a spot on there. I use it to kep up with my friends because of my crazy schedule. I also like just blogging the heck out of whatever is bugging me at the time. It is funny you all should mention Geocities, cause I have a spot there too, but as the content may make some people uncomfortable, I will keep that personal.

I have found that I can find epople i have lost touch with over the years there too, it is kind of nice to be able to get back in touch with some of them again, unfortunately, a good firend found me there and was able to let me know that a mutual friend had died, but at elast I know now, y'know what I mean?

OK, tired and not making a lot of sense, I know, time for a little youtube, then off to bed for me :)

That's something I hadn't thought of for MYSpace: a way to let people find you. That's a cool idea. Even if there are people who SHOULDN"T find me...:)

In the world of MySpace, I agree ;) Im a bit old compared to average on MySpace, but since I preach to senior citizens that your never too old, I like to live that as well :) That and I was on the internet when it was text before most MySpacers were a twitch in their daddies pants ;)

    Tim,

I remember using dial up to hit some local BBS's back inthe day before the net, when we were running windows 3.1 out of DOS, when Hitchhiker's GUide was the kewlest game and Leather goddesses of Phobos was as close to pr0n as some of us could get.

Those were the days, when we didn;t have to worry about viruses and the hackers were just crazy kids trying to figure out how to play war games.

Ah well... look wehre we are now, and if it wasn;t for this net thingy, we never would have gotten to know each other.

Oh, and Wenchie, it looks GREAT!!!!

Yup, I used to run Searchlight myself I think and did the BBS scene personally. I also was on the net when it was all text, forget the company now, getting old, lol :)

Started updating some code today, literally inserted some new html and a couple games, etc., got a LOT to do yet, but here you go:
