    Hello all,
Within the last week I've been having an issue with my computer. It started out where Firefox wouldn't open, saying the process was already running and had to be closed. I checked the processes in the task manager and it wasnt listed. I tried IE9, and it gave me a default search provider security error, and then would freeze. Ran MBAM, Spybot SD, AVG Free, and nothing was found. Ran SuperAnti-Spyware and it found Gen-Skelten and quarantined it. Found this site and followed all instructions. Attached are the logs. After completing all the steps, I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, and it gave me a security file fault. I created a new profile following the instructions on Mozilla's site, and it seemed to fix the issue. IE9 no longer gives the search error, but it doesn't allow me to download files from websites. Please help! I think I'm still infected!

What error do you recieve when trying to download?

    Let's flush the Java Cache

    • Click Start > Settings > Control Panel
    • Double click the Java icon (be patient, it may take a while to open)
    • Now click the General tab and under the Temporary Internet File area
    • Click the Settings button and then click the Delete Files... button.
    • In the next popup click OK.
If you have multiple Java plugin icons in Control Panel follow the above to clear all their caches.

Now let's flush the FireFox Cache
    To flush your FireFox Cache:

    • click Tools
    • select Options
    • select Privacy
    • Clear your recent history

And finally, the Internet Explorer Cache
To flush your Internet Explorer Cache:

    • click Tools
    • Internet Options
    • Now on the General tab and click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too
    • Click OK.
    • When it finishes Click OK.

See if you are able to run this and attach the results.

    Using ESET's Online Scanner

I ran the ESET scanner and it found 14 different threats. I'm attaching the log on the bottom. As far as IE9 goes, when I click on a link to download a file (like on cnet downloads), the yellow box at the bottom doesn't appear. So there's no way for me to download anything. No error message or anything like that. Some of my programs are corrupted as well. If I go to scan a document, the HP scanning software comes up as corrupted and won't function. I performed the steps with java, firefox, and IE9, and my computer still seems to be infected.

I somehow doubt that this is a malware issue. I want you to try running this.

    IEFix 1.6

Let me know if it makes a difference. If not, I think I will refer you on to the software forum.
