    Hello

I have recently bought a new pc and windows 7 64bit OS to be used as my gaming pc...you know, graphics up full yet no lag and all that.

However when playing most games, mainly dawn of war 2 and hellgate:london, the games lag quite badly, even when the graphics are on the lowest settings and was wandering if it was a problem with my hardware, software or something else.

    My pc specs are:

    AMD Athlon 64, 2600 MHz
    CPU Alias ClawHammer-512
    L1 Code Cache 64 KB
    L1 Data Cache 64 KB
    L2 Cache 512 KB (On-Die, Full-Speed)

    AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 810 Processor, 2611 MHz

    4GB ram

GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS graphics card (512 mb)

    Windows 7 64bit N-version

Any help would be much appreciated :major

That graphics card is pretty low-end. I would recommend looking into an upgrade for it.

    Hi

I would agree with collinsl on your GFX card being not perfect for games like those, but also you could have a background task taking up CPU and RAM time and causing this, suspects are Antivirus and Firewall, so what ones do you have installed, please name all security applications installed?

Also to quickly test this and its just a test, dont manage startups with msconfig, is to click Start and type msconfig into the start search box and hit enter then click Startup Tab and disable everything listed (if you can take a screenshot and attach it to your next post that would be good also of the list of startups), then reboot and test the games are they any better?

The 8800 or 9800 cards from nVidia can play pretty much any games today on high. And of course, if money is no object, just get a GTX 260. ;)

From comparing the specs a 4770 looks roughly equal to an 8800 GT, maybe a little higher in some areas. So with that card, a 2.9GHz dual core CPU and 4GB RAM, you should be able to run your games no problem. :)
