I saw a thread regarding this issue and tried to follow the steps but it appears that it can only be dealt with on a one on one basis. True? But my issue is this (just for clarity):

I have a trojan virus that McAfee cannot completely remove. The virus has left an icon in my taskbar that is continually flashing and when I right or left click on it I am taken to a web page for a fake viroprotection site. I can not delete the icon. It also causes the system to redirect my cursor away from where I am writing every 5 minutes or so, so that I have to click back in the area where I am writing to bring the cursor back.

    Please help.

    Thanks for the response.

I ran the Malware removal guide yesterday and it was successful. I think the fix for that trojan was added to the fixes in the guide since the last post that I read about this trojan in which the guide did not work for the poster and further steps needed to be taken. But all is well and I have a clean, smooth machine now.

    Thank you, majorgeeks.
