Okay I will start at the beginning because I do know when the problem began:

I was on a website which requires a login, instead of having to open Internet Explorer and go to the site to login I wanted to create a shortcut on my desktop for the URL that would allow me to logon. When I copied the URL as a shortcut and tried to paste it on my desktop a series of promts popped up about offline access to it, ect. I closed all of the prompt windows, but on my desktop in the top right hand corner was a small internet window of that site which I made a shorcut for, the site reading "Unauthorized Access" on top. I am able to scroll on this window but I can't close it (even with Alt + 4) there is no close button or any of the things commonly found at the top of an internet explorer window. I no longer want anything to do with the site but this window won't go away!

When I startup my computer after turning it off a logon window appears on my desktop along with a white square where that IE window was before. When I click on the cancel button on the logon on window, the IE window in the corner goes to that site reading "Unauthorized Access". I would very much appreciate the window being gone along with the logon prompt. No matter what I try I can't get rid of them and they are always both their upon startup. Can anyone help?

BTW: I cannot move this window either and it is behind my desktop icons. I have scanned w/ my ativirus and nothing comes up. I have also searched my hard drive for files related to that site and I have deleted every one of them. Strange thing though, everytime I search my hard drive with the phrase of that site the same logon box appears again. I have also used CCleaner and Glary Utilities to fix anything I can--obviously it didn't work.

If you go to the Desktop in Explorer are there any files listed related to the website or IE?

    Hello,
If you click Start>All Programs>Startup is anything in the folder?

    Which OS are you using?

Using CCleaner Tools button and Startup do you see anything related to IE or the website?

IE isn't running in my processes when I open task Manager, but that window still remains. Also, My OS is Windows XP Professional. Nothing of IE in startup either!

I wonder if it has something to do with Active Desktop? Go through these steps and see if there is anything under the Web tab.

    Those steps will probably work.

Problem is that in Display there is no "web" tab.

You can get to the web tab by right clicking on an empty area of the desktop and selecting Properties. Click the desktop tab. Click customize desktop. Click Web tab.
