GetRunKey & ShowNew wont work. Boot.exe missing

    i ran everything by the malware removal guide. Everytime i try and run getrunkey and shownew it says cannot find, as it says in my attached files. Also every time i try to open C: it says boot.exe cannot be found and i can only view my c: drive by right clicking it and hit explore.

    Try doing it this way Using GetRunKeys
    and
    Using ShowNew

    Please uninstall HJT and re-download it to: C:\Program Files \ HJT (make the folder first and then rename the .exe to analyse).
    Then:
    Run HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    After clicking fix, exit HJT.

    Now attach new logs for:
    ShowNew
    GetRUnkeys
    HJT

    no matter what i try getrunkey and shownew wont work. i followed everything on that page and i still get cannot find getrunkey.bat or cant find shownew.bat. i did the hijack this,og as u said. also if i did not mention everytime i try to open the c: local disk drive normally it says cant find boot.exe also my task manager is not working.

    Are you getting error messages when you try to run them? Did you run XPproFix? And followed the directions for it?

    If yes .....and you still have problems with it and the boot.exe error ...let's try doing a repair install and then maybe we can get you cleaned up.

    Boot into your xp cd....let it load files ..then you will have the choice to install or repair (though this "R" will take you to the recovery console ---which you don't want to do) ...choose install ...then f8 to the agreement and then it will find your previous install and you can choose "R" for repair ...let it rip.

    When done...uninstall the ShowNew and GetRunKeys files and download them again.

    Tell me if you are successful with that.
