Thanks to everyone for their good wishes.

I'm progressing well and even went out yesterday! Ok...admittedly it was only to the Home Improvement Center a few blocks away, but the new hardwood flooring we laid recently in the kitchen gets so dang hot now the sun has decided to shine again, we can't walk on the floor. Thank God for Levelor blinds!!

(It had to be Levelor considering the origins of my nick hehe)

I can now walk around the block twice a day, and have this even stronger hate than before for daytime TV *yawns*.

Doctor's appointment tomorow so hope to get the OK to drive again soon. Yippeee! Freedom!!!

Aww that's sweet, thanks Roger :)

Speaking of enlightening, while I was in hospital one of the nurses and I were discussing xrays and ultrasounds scans. She told me it was amazing what they found inside some people with those, and the places some people would stick things. One ultrasound result she said you could clearly read the words "Coca Cola"

She had me in stitches...literally! lol I was begging her to quit it as laughing hurts.

Aw hell...I can do better than that!!!!

My wife used to work in the emergency room as a tech, and she actually witnessed a guy come in carrying a vacuum cleaner...and let's just say that he wasn't ther to vacuum the carpets!!!! I'll leave the rest to your imagination!!!!

I often joke I will do that to the dog then he can clean up after himself as he sheds across the house!

I guess you could say the guy was a real sucker...... *groan*

I understand the Levelor thing Lev. I owned 2 Escort GTs in the past and always got a warm feeling seeing my initials on them.

Of course, a Ford GT would have generated even WARMER feelings, but I never did win the Lottery. :D

Glad to hear you improving well. :D

Going OK. I'm lazing at home right now (and tomorrow) from today's chemo infusion. Nothing like a little 2 day vacation every 3 weeks. ;) Makes me massively tired and a bit punchy for a few days after each dose, but no vomitting or diarrhea or other serious nasties, and my bloodwork seems to be holding up well so far. Just took a PSA test today, first time since starting the chemo 6 weeks ago, to see if the cancer is receding; will find out next week, but it's already gotten rid of the bone pain, so it's definitely helping. One kind soul from here sent me a Major Geeks ballcap; just arrived today, to help cover up my hair loss. Perfect timing, as tomorrow is my birthday. Still have hair, just a lot thinner than a month ago, and am still shedding steadily. Don't know if I'll lose it ALL, but definitely losing it. But all things considered, life is good. :)

What's a little hair loss between friends :)

I'm really glad to hear it is reducing your pain - sounds very positive. Resting up sounds great to many, but when you are forced in to doing it, it can suck, I know. Hang in there GT - you are doing great and my prayers continue to go up for your improved health :)

Keep me posted on those results :)

Sorry didn't call last weekend, as you may remember from Abby's last phone call work is in total shit mode right now; this week has gone better though (recommended terminations will do that;)), so if tomorrow doesn't have me in a rubber room, we'll holler at you after we get back from the beach Saturday. I have a new radio-controlled HoverCraft to terrorize seagulls with, and I need to calibrate it :D

I have visions of beach scene from the Tom Cruise movie "Days Of Thunder" with feathers flying everywhere. :D

Give it a try if you're up to it. I'll probably be around. :)

    Will do :)

Btw, I believe Abby mentioned to you that she crochets? Well, I get home tonight and she told me she got a great deal on yarn from some website. She ordered 92 rolls of the stuff...that's $120...I think she's crocheting a car cover :D

And don't ever....EVER.... lump me in the same sentence as Tom Cruise. If Abby ever gets pregnant, I'm STILL eating at Burger King :D

    G.T. R.I.P February 4, 2007. You will be missed.

With that much, she could be crocheting a shuttle cover!

My most humble apologies oh sensitive ex-race car driver. :D Didn't intend to link you to either him or the movie. And you've repented of your sins and moved on to a more worthy calling. (And you've NEVER been the jerk that Cruise is.) It was just the picture of the race car running flat out on the beach through a grounded flock of seagulls

... most of which did NOT fly and get out of the way. I read that the director had corn or something sprinkled on the beach where he wanted to shoot to make sure he had seagulls, LOTS of seagulls, but the dumb birds were too busy eating to notice the oncoming car and fly out of the way, and they pulverized a huge number of them. PETA and SPCA were not amused. And they DIDN'T get to put that warm fuzzy disclaimer at the end of the movie claiming that "no animals were harmed in the making of this movie".

But your hovercar sounds like a lot of fun. :)

  23. star17

    star17 MajorGeek

Not to worry...I won't lose any sleep if the HC dices a few seagulls....they're just rats with wings. Or is that pigeons? :D

I'll tell you more when we call, but man, this has been the worst stretch at work since I've been there. You cannot put people in these positions that don't have a second brain cell to rub against the first; there's way too much at stake. And you know me, I'm about the least tolerant person when it comes to ignorance. But all is looking up, as I played a trump card or two and some individuals are now in slurry dispersement ;)

Now if I can just get Abby to quit watching these damn NASCAR races live and just tape the things so she can watch them while I'm safely out of the house. :D

I think they're a gene splicing combination of the two that went terribly wrong.

Excellent! Tolerance, equality for all, and job protection have NO place in life-and-death business. (Ain't I the mean one?)

TIVO or a cheap VCR, and entice her with fast forwarding through all the commercials, and Sunday walks on the beach. Not to mention slo-mo and frame-by-frame replays of all the horrific crashes. ;)

ehemmm! Not quite! Let me clairify...LOL The yarn is a light sport weight yarn imported from Holland....scrumptiously soft and only has 110 yds per skein. It will take approximately 6 or 7 skeins to make a lacy tank top, more if it's a more solid design. If I were to make a long sleeve sweater it would take up to 20 skeins.

Now. This yarn usually runs $3.99 a skein. It went on sale last week for $1.99 a skein but I hadn't decided on colors and quantities for each color I wanted. When I had finally made up my mind it had been marked down even more to .99¢ a skein. I'll be able to make a shawl and several tops.:D

So you see..because of the further markdown I HAD to order enough to make two additional tops....logical at that price right?:D:D

    G.T. R.I.P February 4, 2007. You will be missed.

Very logical. EMINENTLY logical. Economically logical.

The fact that you could just buy them cheaper has no bearing, as I understand the joys of DIY, although not with knitting or crochet. Just tell Chris it will keep you occupied and distracted and cause fewer incidents of Nerf football attacks. :D

    I've highlighted that button. :D

One more quick laugh for you before I go sack out (I'm up 3 hours before the dawn patrol lately)...we yakked at goldfish recently and we needed to go to the grocery store for some things, so we "took him with us". Most of the folks at the store know me, and I passed around the phone and told them, "Hey, it's a real British guy". He also got to hear his first American road rage incident (minor-anatomically, I cannot do what the other motorist suggested:)), and we are cornering the market on bubblegum for him. When he called, I answered the phone like some Benny Hill character...I think he thought he accidently dialed Maggie. :D

Abby's bringing me up to speed on the lastest med info with you; you know me, anything more complex medically than taking a Goody powder is over my head, so she's telling me in Sesame Street terms so I understand. Our "offer" has, and always will, stand. And when I get my assignment for 121, we'll go from there on a trip southeast for you. Personally, I don't think it's going up on 1 July (the managers are in a catfight over the tank...again), but we'll see.

Me speakus to you soonus...can I interest you in a sweater? :D

I wish I could buy them cheaper but I can't.:( It's cheaper for me to make them which is why I started sewing years ago. You ever see the prices for clothing in specialty catalogs ie: for tall women? A plain cotton tank top runs anywhere from $35 - $50 bucks. I can make one for anywhere from $2 - $15 depending on my selection of materials. I usually buy material from the clearance bins at a $1 - $3 a yard and the same with yarn..I buy when it's on sale.:D

Chris actually enjoys watching me crochet.:) I just finished another beaded doily and have another one almost done that I'm putting red roses on. Instead of the nerf foot ball I just threaten him with my steel crochet hook if he bugs me.;)

I stand corrected. I don't spend much time looking at women's clothing, unless it's already on a woman. ;)

More of a threat than the football! :D

    LOL. GREAT phone call. :)

No prob. It's confusing enough for me. :D I just had a light go off over my head. Last bone scan done, I looked at the pretty pictures on the tech's monitor. I'm gonna see if I can get a digital copy of the entire body showing where all the cancer is. Partly so I can sneer and laugh at it (and compare personally to future scans), and partly to show easily to any who are interested. That's about as naked as you'd ever see me. :D BTW, the email addy I have for you keeps saying ACCESS REFUSED every time I send you something. For a while I just thought it didn't like BCC listings, but I sent one to you directly and it was denied as well. Have Teresa send me whatever you're currently using, or just PM me with it if you would be so kind.

And July 1 probably wouldn't work for me, chemo or no, as EVERYBODY possible has already staked out vacation time around the Independence Day holiday. Later works better for me, and it was kind of you to sabatoge the tank just for me. :D

Um, no thanks. How about a car cover for '03 Altima? Maybe in a camo pattern? :D

Actually not expensive when you use calling cards. I has a contract with www.superline.co.uk and they worked out about 2 pence per minute to the USA, so we could chat a couple of hours a day.

That's great. I'm an an old fart that remembers dollars per minute for overseas calls, and still haven't really realized that overseas isn't that expensive these days.

i use 10 10 987, and it costs three cents a minite. the only problem is that there is a 50c connection charge, so if you are trying to reach someone and end up getting voice mail, or chasing them round, those 50c add up quickly. mostly, now, i get people to call me and then ring them straight back. i can still run up a sizable bill ringing zoe though!

Lev, I'm glad things went well and you're on the mend again. Good to have you back with us. :)

G.T:- Sounds like you're bearing up under the circumstances. Beast wishes and prayers going your way again, my friend :)

Abby:- Hmm. That reminds me I'm still having to move boxes of skeins of wool from my wife's hobbies to this day. For someone that hasn’t been here for over four years, she's still making her presence felt, LoL! Makes me realise how much I've spent just on wool and yarns over the years. Between, the crotchet, knitting, and carpet latch hook stuff, I could start a garage sale with it all. Hmm - tempting! :D

Star:- Yep. The life threatening positions some of the mentally inept manage to work their way into never ceases to appal me.
