    hello,

i don't know if this is the correct place for this problem or not. i just got a laptop, and when playing any games, like from gamehouse, it does not fill the whole 17" widescreen, it is still has the black bars on the sides.

is that just how the game is made? or do i have to change some settings? i believe my desktop monitor is 19" widescreen and the same games fill the whole sccreen, so i am at a loss.

    thank you

    Hi

Check if in the games options (if it has any) that there is an option to make the game "full screen"

thanks for the reply....i have them all set to full screen. but still have the black bars on the sides.

i just think that it is weird that the internet and other windows open up on the whole widescreen....just not the games..........are they supposed to or does it just depend on the game?

    Is your graphics ATI based?
If it is and you have CCC installed you can go to the software and in there is "Scaling" options, (I don't remember exactly where this option is) should have a slider bar and you slide it to full.

Or I've found on some games that changing the resolusion and then changing it back works, I have a couple of games I have to do this every time I play.

If this is not the problem then it may simply be that your games simply don't work at that resolution, my wife plays some Gamehouse stuff and not much of it will go full widescreen.

i have tried all the resolutions, it changes my desktop, but the games stay the same, 2 in black bars on both sides......last night i just closed my laptop and when i opened it this morning the game i was playing last night was FULL screen and i played it that way for over an hour, but once i closed it and tried to open it again, it went back to the black bars on both sides, what was that about?!?!

i couldn't try what you were suggesting with the CCC cause i have no clue what that is....

    Hi

What is your PC make and model if an OEM from the likes of HP, DELL, SONY etc?

and if your PC is a home/custom build then follow the below as it will give us some info to try and assist you as the more info we know on the hardware used the easier it is to suggest options.

What games are these, please name them, if they are online games then many may not offer full screen play, what do their support site say?

it is a dell inspirion 1750, i am trying to run the everest program, since i bought htis off ebay, didn't know if they added or modified anything but i am getting an erro that says that the driver is not signed and my version of windows requires all driversn to have a valid signature so the program may not work correctly.....so we will see about that.....will post the report if it works in a second

    Hi

Try this as you mention your getting driver error messages, and also let me know if in Device Manager you have any items with a yellow ! mark next to them.

Download and install the Chipset driver from HERE and reboot, then install the graphic driver from HERE and reboot and test.

thanks again for all the help.

i did change some settings in the scaling, i believe it was called. that seemed to work for some games, like you said, maybe the others just aren't made for widescreen.........just weird that i have been playing some of these games for a while now and i JUST noticed that it wasn't in widescreen?!

most of the games i have played are from reflexive arcade, if that means anything to you. i am now about to do the last thing you mentioned to do and will post the results. there are currently no yellow marks in device manager.

    thanks again
