    To have auto logon:

Click Start >Run [type] control userpasswords2 >Clear the Users must enter a username and password to use this computer check box >Click Apply >Enter the user name and password you wish to automatically log on with >OK >OK again

Big question, do you have .net framework installed? If so, go to windows update and install SP1 of .net framework.

    If not, follow controlmind's suggestion......

.Net has a nasty habbit of adding a user to the group, enter Control Panel > User Accounts and delete the .Net account ( if its their.. had to do this to a PC last week )

you can also use MS TweakUI ( part of Powertoys for XP ) to autologon for you bypassing the logon screen.
