Hello.
Not much popped up on this and didn't find much in search either.
I thought I would start a thread a little more positive than my first two.
First of all I think Steve's software (Spinrite 6) is a little out dated.
What I mean by that is; hard drives are so cheap these days, just keep your OS backed up with a program like Macrium Reflect, and when your drive dies pop a new one in and restore your OS with Macrium Reflect. I've done that and it works great.
I did find Steve's video very interesting but a little over my head.
I don't know how good his free tests are but I passed all of them with excellent results.
The free tests are the main reason I started this thread to see if I could get some comments from the Geeks here on the forum about how good the tests were.

Also I consider myself an expert on Macrium Reflect and would be glad to help anyone that have questions on MF.
I back up my OS religiously with Macrium Reflect at least once a month or when I make major changes. MF has saved my life many times as I'm a bit of a risk taker.
I run xp3 and MR is the best thing sense buttons on a shirt for me.
I keep my back up images on a external USB and a few other places as well. MR is a freeware and recommended by MajorGeeks.
I have two Linux, a Bart PE, and a Windows PE rescue CD's. I also made a slipstream CD of XP3, but sure hate down loading all the up dates after reformatting with that. Believe me MF is the best way do restore your OS.
Sorry if this is not up to par with Geek talk. My PC language has a lot to be desired.:-D I hope to add to this thread latter; depending on the responses I get, but that's it for now.
