Hello all, Smokin's Idea about sharing wallpaper for desktops is great !!!, I think a thread like that will consume much data on MG's webserver,as well as bandwith to host these wonderfull pix . I would like to spare them the storage and bandwith to accomdate sharing wallpaper, So, I have created a wallpaper server online for all to download as you wish, FREE Wallpaper hosted by Glenn,,,Enjoy, all. !!!

These wallpapers are gorgeous. Now all i need to do is make another samurize configuration for dark wallpapers and i'll be set.

btw if u ever come across a wallpaper that has an alien playing pool and the balls are the planets, can you email me it? this goes for anyone... i've been looking for that wallpaper for ages. my email is neonemesis4@gmail.com thanks.

Some great images there Glenn, and a good idea. But be cautious about copyright. Most images are owned by somebody, who may not appreciate them being hosted without their permission.

 

Thanks GT these are already released onto the public internet, in a wallpaper submission site, so these are from public forum only, I would not post from a copy written site, Glenn

I agree totally.

Icedude had problems with this before. I admit, I have been known to give people desktops, but I always show the place I got them from with the image. Still not very good, I know, but some people need a desktop.

However, distributing them on the net is a different thing all together.

Thanks for the idea !!! But will go through the proper steps to create a proper webpage, with appropriate credits,to all authors of work, to say I have no idea who published them would be a lie,,,I am a member of the webpage that shares those images,as I am on the MG forum, and have to stand by principle. Thanks for the suggestion Bazza.

Right now i use Object dock to give me an Mac OS type selection bar. I have it hidden right now, so it keeps things clean. Plus its really organized. Each side of the screen will have a differnt catergory. Games, Apps, Util. ect.

Yes Bob,,I have moved all the files untill I have permission from authors to post there work,,and yes the index page is to a support group I started 4 years ago,,,and still faciltate meetings for, I use my extra server space for assorted projects,,

But if you did read into the thread there was a diffinative answer as to why there are no desktops available at the moment, Glenn

 

I can't find it, do you remember anything at all about it. Like how far into themexp.org it took to find the wallpaper. and what or part of the name of it was. or if you have it on ur hardrive still i really want this background, it rocks!

 

I was searching for space related things. It was quite a while ago. I believe it was in the 2000s somewhere, but so much has been added to ThemeXP since then. I might not even be on there.

I wish i still had it. I formated so it wont be there anymore.

Im going to keep looking. It is a sweet background.

Cooked, posting that image from ThemeXP is a great example of the can of worms that copyright issues have become. ThemeXP is a VERY profit driven site. You either pay a fee to join, or download adware with most of the themes and images, and the adware is LOCKED into the executable; you can't easily tease the images or themes out separately. Which STRONGLY implies that they don't approve of any posting off of their site, which lo$e$ their $ale$ revenue$. Including sharing it here.

Have you violated the copyright on that image by posting it here? I don't know, but you well might have. And taken to the extreme, MA & company could receive an angry letter and a demand to remove that posting here, or worse. It's currently real easy to get into real trouble over just sharing things with your friends.

I appreciate your concern. I have gone through Glenn's thread and realize the copyright issues that can come up. While i did get this wallpaper months ago from ThemeXP. This is not where this one came from. I found it on a google search It was in one of the later 1000s of pages. While it MAY have come from a copyrighted site in the first place, i took this one off of a public hosting site. I am unaware of any copyright from this newest site.

Lots of them, over the years. And generally, nobody gets any flack over them. But the potential is there for problems, even though it doesn't usually happen. A site hosting a bunch of wallpaper images specifically would get closer scrutiny than casual posting would.

And there may not be any issues. That site may have gotten permission from the author to distribute freely, and the author may not care who hosts it. The problem is you/we can't tell unless it's specifically spelled out, which it usually isn't. And it's an annoying problem for all of us... me too.

 

I understand. I did not mean to cause any problems for any of us. I will refrain from posting images that maybe copyrighted. If something comes along that i must show, i will try and contact the author, and cite his work properly.

LOL. Don't get TOO paranoid about it. Most all of us have no doubt unwittingly violated some facet of the copyright rats nest. THEMEXP was just a perfect example to use for showing the greedy end of the spectrum of what's out there. I wasn't picking on YOU.

Glenn whenever you get something worked out I would very much like to submit some of my stuff. I couldn't personally care less about copywrites & all. If someone steals my stuff.....hey at least they found it worthy enough to steal right?
