Gmail Used For Setting Up Win11 Is Now Disabled

I recently got a new laptop with Windows 11 and I was forced to get a Microsoft account before I could finish setting it up. For that, I had to have an email account, so I created a throwaway Gmail account and just used it to finish the setting up, never meaning to use it again.

Today, I decided to have a look at that Gmail account to see if Microsoft was trying to give me some info, but I found the account had been disabled. This is really strange, because I never used it at all since that one time a few weeks ago.

So the thing I want to know is: will I be OK if I just forget about that Gmail account, or do I need to get the account reinstated? Thanks

 

As you intended to set up 11 with a local account rather than a MS account you can just follow this guide to switch. You have no further need for the Gmail account.

 

Still rather strange that a new, unused Gmail account is 'disabled'...

 

Thanks for that advice. Just one thing. I'd like to switch to a local account, because frankly, the less I have to do with Microsoft the better (I'm sick of the way it forces things like Edge on you). However, I'm a bit paranoid about stuff not working if I have a local account. Will there be any difference in my PC's performance?

 

It's perfectly fine to use a local account, it doesn't affect your computer at all. you just lose automatic access to MS' online services such as OneDrive or OneNote. However you will still have Edge to contend with ;-)

 

I prefer it that way earthling...If i don't need any thing from Microsoft i should be be forced to.
