go slow

my computer is running slow on one particular feature.when i go to turn pages it takes ages,i go on a site first page ok.when i come to change pages,
the green lights at the botttom take ages to fill and turn the page .
can you help.

morning Domluc. thanks for your help i am running xp 2000 iv'e just tried Opera (your suggestion ) no noticible change.so i am going to try mozilla although i have not had the best of luck with this in the past.i aready have ccleaner installed i use it all the time.
i have just installed obit defrag,i'll let you know how it go's.
