Cannot say that its an easy yes or no to that question Smiles, Wobbles, Scorcer have valid points.. too many variables and why?

My only advice is to check into any problems you may have with the father if you decide to move, not just asking his permission if thats needed BUT the legalities.... whos to say he may say yes in person but at a later date say I want to see my son, without any legal binding documents in place you will most likely be forced home or at best some court intervention, which could put strain on your friend in the UK and any relationship you may have.

Other things are what work if any are you going to be doing in the UK if any or is your friend supporting you? if you are working then childcare is needed plus the enevitable medical questions.

please have a read of this site it gives answers to many questions plus the forum is full of ex pats views on the move http://www.uk-yankee.com/

Also make sure you have enough money for a return plane trip for you and son... plus if things dont goto plan, I hope they do go well for you, but you have to think of the little things.

plus... why not go for a 2-4 week hoilday to see if you like the UK/Area you are living in and check up on daycare, schooling, work opportunities etc before you make the final decision?

Heck no. You don't have to go nearly that far to get screwed. One way or the other.

So far all I've heard is there's a guy there that you want to "date". What are the job opportunities for YOU over there? Will your nursing credentials here be worth anything over there? Can you (not him) afford to LIVE over there? Where in England? There are good/bad areas just like here. What do you know about where you're going, other than that HE'S there?

And VERY important... if you change your mind, do you have enough money, that you won't need to spend, to make your way, by yourself, back home? Sounds to me like you're getting ready to jump off a high diving board, and you have no idea if there's any water in the pool.
