Going bonkers over popups

    A friend made my dad a comp. It was fine for about a week or two, then I noticed alot of pop-ups, adware and spyware, I have found the following on my pc Toptext, ilookup, isearch, dmvlite, spotresult.com, web offers, inqwire.com.
    and I also just started getting popups for painting room setup wizard asking me to install it. ( i have not)

    I have installed & ran aboutbuster,adaware se personal, spybot search and destroy, kill2me, spyware blaster, stinger 2.4.7, plvx2cleaner & cwshredder. according to thread # 35407. I followed instruction to the best of my ability.

    Also I am not able to download active x controls

    Please follow forum guidelines from now on about when and how to correctly post HijackThis logs.

    Note you also have it running directly from the ZIP file and you will not get Backups that way. Please follow the below.


    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following: your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message.(Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

    You should also look in Add/Remove programs for the below and uninstall (if found):
    SED
    DSS or DSSAgent
    VBouncer or Virtual Bouncer

    Then download, install, update, and then run a full system scan with Microsoft AntiSpyware. Get it at the follow link:

    Then reboot and post a new HJT log following my instructions
