to celebrate a friends birthday tonight. It's a long drive for us from Jax Beach to Lake Butler but the restaurant gets rave reviews.:cool

The menu looks pretty good to me...they even have fried cheese cake, which I've never heard of before.. Anyone ever had it? I'm a cheese cake freak (thanks dad! aka max) so I do believe I'll have to make sure I have room for desert.:D

    Hi Teresa

I love cheesecake too but never tried fried cheesecake, its different I'll give you that. BUT what in the hell are Hushpuppies? I know here in UK they are a make of shoe... so hope you dont have to eat a slingback or sandal LOL

Enjoy yourselves as I know you and Chris will.

Just had fresh king prawns with lemon and pasta with flat leaf parsley myself, love seafood and notice that resturant has loads to choose from.

@ Halo....lmao! Hush puppies are delicious if they are made right but sadly...they don't wear well on the feet. LOL

Sounds like you had a great dinner..yummy! I've looked at the menu for Lake Butler several times and can't decide what I'll have...except the cheese cake is a given of course....roflmao

Mmmm those Hushpuppies sound tasty although seriously fattening!

Think I;d have to go with this....

    Starter
    Buffalo Shrimp

    Main
Butler Steak ~ medium cooked with sides of Coleslaw, Onion rings, Sauteed Mushrooms and what the hell some Hushpuppies.

    Desert
    gaviscon tablet! or cheesecake,

Yes dinner was really nice, lite too so I can fit in some wild berry pudding and double cream in a moment ;) think we found the recipe online so will email it to you when i find it.

LOL, as if fried cheesecake is diet food!:D I wonder if they batter it and deep fry, like the Scots do with Mars bars? At least there's no blooming onion in there. Granted all this is probably more in calories than one needs for a whole day, but it's a birthday party! Enjoy it AbbySue.:yum

The menu sounds great, Teresa, and the setting beautiful and peaceful. Haven't had Hushpuppies for a lot of years, but they are yummy, i.m.o. The shoe kind I have two pairs of, lol!;) Hope you and Chris, et al, have a wonderful time of it all.

Re: Augie:- Yep, had the Fried Mars Bars a few times. A bit rich for me, though.

Oh yeah, we had fish and chips tonight. Nothing fancy, but they were real noce, anyway.:yum

LOL I count calories but all bets are off when going out to dinner!!!!!:D The synopsis of our eveing...

I actually tried the gator...and so did Chris...keep in mind he's a real picky eater.... He had been away from the table when it was brought out..we had put some on his appetizer plate and when he asked what it was we told him chicken. He started eating it and remarked how good it was....I then told him it was gator and his jaw hit the table, he dropped it back on his plate and had this look of utter horror on his face. I laughed so hard I thought I was gonna wet my pants!!! roflmao roflmao

Other than the gator...I nibbled on the fried clam strips which were really good and the crab cakes were so good I could have made a meal out of those alone. They had prime rib that night so I had that b/c I nibbled sea food appetizers...the prime rib was delicious...tender & juicy. I had a baked potato with it...I dunno what they did to that but OMG! it was so good. They apparently used some kind of rub on it before baking....another thing I could have made a meal out of.:) I also had a salad with balsamic vinaigrette.

And yes..I did try the fried cheesecake! It was served in 4 little triangles surrounded by a bed of homemade whipped cream lightly dusted with cocoa powder. It also came with fresh strawberry & chocolate dipping sauce. We passed it around the table so everyone could try it...I couldn't figure out what the coating was on it but overall....it was delicious!

After dinner we walked across the road to a rather large playground and tried everything out...the swings...the merry go round....teeter tauters....slides, monkey bars, etc. Picture a bunch of adults between 25 and 50 tearing up the playground laughing like hyeneas...we had a blast! lol lol

To close out our evening..we went back to the house for cake and ice cream...I still haven't recovered from so much food that night...lol

Well, I have 2 ideas for you about this meal... :)
It could be national Georgian meal called "Hachapurri" (nice name, isn't it?). It's like pizza but with Georgian cheese only inside it called "Suluguni". You wonder where do I know this from? ;) I am Russian and we know much about former Soviet Union countries' meal...
Another idea is that this cake is a dessert meal called "Cheese-cake" and it is French one if I'm not mistaken..
Anyway, give us a report about this cake... :D

I did in post #9:p:D All I can add to that is that it was actually cheese cake...that yummy, lucious cream cheese...mmmmm...I could go for some right now..lol

Spaceman about sent me into orbit on the teeter totter! roflmao I'm still sore from where I landed with a thud! lol He jumped off the swing too...the only one of the guys who jumped and landed on his feet. The others ended up on their arses or doing a modified roll from their shoulder to their backsides. :D

Likely retro fitted himself with a Shuttle gryo, so like a weeble he always ends up right side up :D

I love those sorts of days, and being a kid again, only thing is your gut aches from all the laughing for days.

Glad you guys had a delicious dinner and a real ball at the local park. I have had Crocodile meat in Africa, but not really through choice:puke. Nowadays, mainly plainish grub for me.

Last time we tried something like the park invasion, (some years back), we went on one of those push round-a-bouts. I got a bit carried away and pushed it around so fast the other guy flung off of it from the centrifugal force. Fortunately no severe injuries, but he was kinda sore! He thought it was a hoot, but I've been guilt tripping about it ever since:eek:. My stint on the Flying Fox thingy had everyone scattering. They said I was in the jungle too long - hence my location, (above). :D

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v173/star17abby/Smilies/butt.gifYou're quite welcome Dad! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v173/star17abby/Smilies/neenaw.gif

I think when I come visit we should try to duplicate that fried cheese cake...might take us a while to get it just right but think of all the taste testing we'd have to do....:D

That almost happened to Julie..she started yelling to stop!!! I can't hang on anymore....lol

Oh! I forgot to add that I did have hush puppies too...OMG! Had to be the best ones I've ever had...ate 'em just like that without the dipping sauce.
