Try zone alarm firewall. I use it. You can ajust many security settings, It has off, low, medium, and high security levels for the firewall, program monitoring, e-mail protection, and has automatic updates. But the best part is that it is freeware. Here's the link:

As well as the above mentioned Firewall which is free and very good, if your being attacked by Malware all the time then read this guide of ours for some great tips How to Protect yourself from malware!

    Welcome to MG.
As Halo recommends, Zone Alarm Free is very good.

For other useful programs, go to

    for more ESSENTIAL free stuff.

Download and install one program from each category.
Sometimes more than one is a good idea, but usually only 1 firewall and 1 anti-virus program (Avast for me).

I use the windows' fire wall (which is free and should already be installed on your computer if u have Win XP and its updated) and it works very well for me, i never have a problem with my computer, ontop of that I have a modem and a router which also help protect my computer.

The problem with Windows Firewall is that it blocks incoming traffic only. If you were to get a spyware infection despite your defenses, and it were trying to send information out over the internet (as spyware does by definintion) Windows Firewall wouldn't stop it, where Zone Alarm would. Also, it is nowhere near as easy to configure.
