Looks like it's going to be another pretty day here. :)

I got up last night (2:30am this morning) to go outside and see the shuttle launch but unfortunately, there was significant cloud cover so I didn't see the night sky all lit up. What a bummer.:( On the bright side, the launch seemed to go off without a hitch which is always a blessing.:)

Any of y'all have special plans this week? I don't have much going on except a couple of appts. at Mayo and answering an SOS to fix a friends puter. And, while not special, I need to go get my hair trimmed...I'ts become quite shaggy and out of control....kinda like this guy -> :eek lol

Oh yeah, note to self: Remember to refresh your memory when spending any significant time outside....some medications cause sensitivity to the sun so it's your own darn fault you got fried while spending the day at Ormond Beach yesterday.:bangheadUgh...can't decide if my legs or upper arms hurt worse. It's pretty pathetic when the only way you can be remotely comfortable is to wear nothing but your underwear!

Anyone know of a home remedy for sunburn that actually works? I've been slathering on lotion and solarcaine but I'm not getting any relief.

Oops! How could I forget!? We're going deep sea fishing again on Saturday with some friends. Wonder if I'll catch the most fish like last time?:D

2nd note to self: Buy sunscreen for Saturday and use the whole bottle before getting on he boat!!!! LOL

Hope y'all have a wonderful day!

A simple thing that helps is Benadryl. It is an antihistamine, so it might make you a bit drowsy. Don't drive and take it. 25-50 mg. should do it.

It helps cut down on the swelling a bit.

Drink tons of fluids. Gatorade, 7-up, etc. Not just water.

Oh................ and have Star kiss it and make it well.

    heh heh heh.

Thanks Bill:)...looks like some really good tips on that site. I must say though, the pic you posted looks like a mild sunburn compared to what I ended up with. :( I've had cold chills since last night and didn't sleep well at all. Don't think I've had a fever, just shivering like crazy. It'll be a miracle if I don't blister!

Sorry to hear about your sunburn T. Hope you get your friends computer fixed without too much trouble and have a blast this weekend. I took the next week off to do some work around the house, tile, trimwork, etc. Ugh... :D

    Larry!!! *HUGS*

I do have swelling, a little on my face but mostly on my legs. Never thought of the benedryl...will have to give that a try. I'm pretty sure I have some as I keep it on hand b/c I'm notorious for having allergic reactions.

I have been gulping liquids, mainly water at this point. I recently quit smoking (hope it sticks this time!!) so I've been consuming more liquids anyway....it's probably the only thing that kept me from keeling over yesterday.

I like the idea of kissing to make it well....I just pray it's right after he shaves...I think whiskers would be killer at this point! LOL

Thanks Randy..it's my own stupid fault for forgetting about the sensitivity problem with on of my meds. I guarantee I won't forget again!!!!!! LOL

I'm looking forward to the fishing trip...just keeping my fingers crossed that the water is calm..I sure don't want to be tossing my cookies over the side of the boat!:D

Still remodeling huh? I bet things are coming along quite nicely.:)

Theresa & your children doing ok?

BTW...are you still making pickups and guitars?

Remodling will never end lol. Theresa and the kids are doing great thanks for asking. Jacob and Nathan are both playing baseball this year, Gabby is a handfull. She's getting into everything in sight.

As for the guitar thing I am only winding pickups now. Getting ready for the website launch very soon. Products are in 3 stores locally and going well.

Yo Abster good to hear from you - things seem to be ok this side of the pond. Got my last Uni interview at Surrey and then need to await the outcome.
Taking a skiing holiday a week on Saturday in Bulgaria for a week (yeh I'm gonna miss Easter!)

Band is slowly coming along also - let Chris know that we have some promo shots on our myspace and also the band name has changed (I'll email him regarding this).

Hope all is well otherwise :)

He's right ------------ aloe takes the fire out of it.
Keep the skin moist so it doesn't dry out. That will only make it peel faster.
    And itch more.

Ouch! Sunburn is extremely uncomfortable and it sounds like you have a severe case of it. Being overcast is always tricky, because one doesn't realise that you can get burned even more on those type of days. I reckon you will probably end up peeling.

For now, you need much relief and lotsa moisturising.

I make up my own stuff by mixing a few drops of the essences of Lavender Oil and Tea Tree Oil (this being a great antiseptic) with Vitamin E cream (which you can buy from supermarket or pharmacy), and find using this, is a safe natural therapy treatment for sunburn. It is a soothing mix and if done in time, I've avoided getting to the peeling stage (Ugh!)

Hey Abby ~ good to 'see' ya again! :) Yeah, I saw that the latest Shuttle launch went well, albeit overcast in your neck of the woods, (*greetings to Starman!).

I seem to remember last time you went fishing at sea you got sunburnt, now like you said with the meds it will be even more risky. Take care out there - we don't want you roasted, y'hear!

Speaking of sunburn and such, I've been catching to much of the dreaded summer sun over here as well. Since it was so hot for the last few months, I decided to listen to people and wear short sleeved shirts, instead of my usual longs, all year round. That was my mistake. Had a smallish Melanoma frozen off my left forearm with the liquid N2 by the Doc. That was early last month, and it’s just about scared over now. Apart from being sore, it wasn't too bad. Blood tests all clear, so it’s all good. (I now have an abundant supply of SPF 30+ sunscreen screams and lotions). Both Aloe Vera and Coconut oil are soothing, and relatively low allergenic.

Work has had me pretty busy, and I'm tripping over 'puters and monitors all over the place (again!). Thought I would get an early start for Easter, and bought chocolate eggs for the kids and friends. Another mistake. I forgot about them, and ended up with a brown puddle in my car, lol!

Take care and hope to see ya soon. :)

Aloe Vera is the best and all natural too. Keep mine close by (for when I cook) LOL

    Hi Abby,

Im not sure if your still looking for a remedy for sunburn but I'll tell you what worked for me (actually Mimsy gave me this solution and it works like a charm).

Take plain yogurt (yes yogurtLOL) and slather it all over your sunburn, wait till it dries and wash it off. I was a little leery about trying it myself but I couldnt get relief from anything else (I was probably as burnt as the picture Bill posted) so I figured what do I have to lose? By the time it came to wash it off the pain was gone!

Hope it helps, I know how painful sunburn is.. ouch! :wave
