y'all!:) Got back home several hours ago...flight was delayed cuz we had to wait for a flight crew due to storms holding up departing flights out of other airports along the East Coast. Chris is pretty tired...wish he didn't have to go to work but it was sure good to climb into my own bed last night. The bed at my mom & dads is comfy but there's nothing like your own bed to snuggle down into.:D

I'm gonna head back for some more Z's once Chris is safely at work...until then..hope y'all have a wonderful day and please save some coffee for me!...looks like I'm gonna need it while doing a little mopping up...;):D:D Catch y'all later!:)

Mornin gal!:) Mom and family are doing better...it was rough going at first when I got there...had to call the ambulance the first night I was there to have them take mom back to the hospital...she was in so much pain it was heartbreaking and dad was exhausted to the point he couldn't even stand up from trying to take care of her. I followed the ambulance to the hospital and stayed with her until they got her settled in a room. She is now in an extended care facility where she can get 24/7 care. It's all so heartbreaking and dad tried so hard but there is no way one person (or even 2) can meet all of her needs around the clock both physically and medically. Thankfully they seem to have finally found a medication cocktail (for lack of a better term) that seems to be working pretty well in controlling the pain she has and she will get therapy 5 days a week where had she stayed at home she can only get limited therapy and then only for a short period of time...insurance companies can be such a PITA!

The speech pathologist told my mom yesterday when I was there to say goodbye to her that she WILL be able to actually talk to me when I go back up there in about 2 months. That would be SO wonderful! The other day she was picking on me something awful...her eyes were all sparky and she kept chuckling and saying 'ha, ha' cuz I was having hot flashes...when I left there that evening my face actually hurt from laughing..it was GREAT!:D:D Oh yeah! and her feet are still REALLY ticklish! LOL

Welcome Back, Abby. :) Glad everything is doing well with your mom and family. I commend your father for his endurance, love, and committment. It can be said that when your focus is on someone else, your soul gets refreshed and renewed - sometimes physically too. My prayers are with you and your family. Shalom :)

Welcome home Abby. We've been missing you. Not as badly as Chris no doubt, but a lot. Glad to hear things are getting sorted and settled with your mom... and your dad. Certainly not easy for him and the other family members that care and are caring for her.

Glad to hear your mom is getting her sparkle back and teasing you. She must be doing better there.
I am sure your dad was doing all he could and more to try to take care of her, but it is a very, very difficult job. She probably knew what it was doing to him, which made it hard for her, too (Hope you know what I mean)
The therapy can and will do wonders. It will be so nice for you to hear her talk to you.

    Take care

    Gal

What a wonderful 'welcome back' thread this turned into.:) Thank you one and all...it's so good to see so many of the 'regulars', 'old timers'...however ya want to put it..lol Sorry I didn't get back in here sooner....I ended up suffering with a major headache yesterday...nausea, dizziness...exhaustion...the whole nine yards. Can never figure out if these reactions are a good thing or a bad thing but I've come to expect them whenever I'm facing a lot of stress...I'm one of those people that can stand up and stay strong during a crisis...do what's got to be done and then I crumble afterward...sometimes it's crying jags, other times it's severe headaches and exhaustion. It's weird cuz technically I slept the 'appropriate' hours per night while in NY but I didn't feel rested and/or like I slept at all most mornings when I got up...I know..I'm wierd..lol

@ gal..yeah...I know what you mean and I do think she was very aware the toll it was taking on my dad.

    @ BooM...you leave me speachless..thank you:)

@ Halo..a cup of coffee is always in order..now hand it over!:):D

@ Sasquatch...y'all just bess wautch it wid dat lmao;):D psst...it may crack you up to hear me talk but wait til you REALLY carry on a lengthy conversation with Chris...now he is a TRUE Suthener:D:D

@ Ken...How true...and thank you for your continued prayers.

@ Lev....*hugs* backatchya:) It's good to be back...looking forward to going to the beach tomorrow if the weather cooperates...even better...Chris has a long weekend due to the Holiday....Yeah!:D

    @ LLC...thank you...but....but...do I hafta?;):D

@ G.T....Thanks:) Chris and I were (are) very happy to see each other...I think he missed my meatloaf more than anything;):D

@ Phantom...Thanks..I think Chris is rested up now...he went in the bedroom to read for a bit around 7 last night...needless to say he didn't read very long so he was quite refreshed this morning when we got up at 3:30:)

@ HUDIK...Thank you...I'm feeling a bit better today but I think a nap will still be in order..lol

@ SPD...thanks:) It's good to be home...the daily ritual of wild life in the Marsh was a welcome site yesterday...I never get tired of watching the activity outside the window:)

    @ g1lgam3sh...thank you:) BTW...have you been behaving yourself during my absence? :) j/k :D

Another morning. Hope it's a good one.
Abby, I know just what you mean about being strong when needed, then collapsing. For me, it is not the headaches. I just want to sleep and sleep and sleep.
Have a great long weekend. We normally go camping, but decided not to this holiday, so I'll be home relaxing I hope.
    Take care all.
    Gal

*Ya know me AS, I don't like to upset anyone accidentally...................................................it's always deliberatehttp://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/cool.gif

*This is a joke BTW, if I do inadvertently upset anyone my apology will be swift and effusive, if it was deliberate and you're upset...take a number http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/wink.gifhttp://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/cool.gifhttp://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

    G.T. R.I.P February 4, 2007. You will be missed.

Not being "rested" despite the amount of sack time is normal Abby. Stress takes a large toll on the body, and your sleep isn't as helpful as normal. And the fact that you're one of those people that grits teeth and stays strong through the situations, while very helpful and useful, means your body will run closer to it's limit without you giving it any breaks.

Post crisis collapse is normal. Take all the time you need to recuperate, and don't feel a bit bad about it.

Let Star make the meatloaf. :D
