Count me in that 2%!! :D

That was fun, though my solution was decidedly non-logical and took 45 minutes of mad scribbling

It wasn't easy, I had to rewrite it 6 or 7 times myself.

    I'll give it a shot.
But Einstein was born in 1879. How could he write it before he was born?

  7. animatress

Good catch! Maybe he discovered time travel! Just like him not to tell us about it, ;)

The 19 century is actually the 1800s but i dont count myself in that 2% im to lazy to read it.

I have an answer. How do I know if it's correct?

  10. MrPewty

    MrPewty MajorGeek

And he was born in 1879, so he couldn't have written it in the early 19th century.

    MrPewty MajorGeek

No, that would have been the 20th.

sits n chuckles... the 19th century is 1800-1899! Surely u remember the year 2000 being the celebration of the entrance into the 21st century?

The riddle is well known and googleable lol..... but the style and way to solve is like logic problem books you can buy. Follow process of elimination n tis done, and if you use excel for a grid tis even easier lol

Mind... other cultures use different calenders.....

Ok, tried to solve this with the grid solution method (each compared variable on intertwining X vs Y grids) and I think I worked it out -- I also think I have too much time on my hands when my wife is on call... Though I don't know if I have the right answer until Animatress replies.
