Good Tweak?

I adjusted my setting to the highest performance and to gaming mode. It is much faster now. Does anyone know if that reduces the longevity of the components?

 

This always causes a debate so to end it quick,YES in general putting more stress on components will shorten their lifespan BUT it will not shorten the life so much as to shorten their working life,they are designed to be run at full speed.

May I ask what you've set to highest performance and what you've set to gaming mode? There are lots of components and programs that have gaming mode and high performance mode.

 

About the particulars of what settings I changed:
I opened the Control Panel, clicked on the "Change Power Settings" in the menu on the left, then I checked the "Power4Gear Performance " instead of the "Power4Gear Entertainment." The two choices are shown on the "Select a Power Plan" screen. The change in performance is absolutely amazing. It does not make too much difference when I am doing something like drag and drop. But when the computer is in charge, it happens so fast I cannot see the action.

 

This is ASUS's power management feature, basically it limits the performance of your computer to save power and keep the fans quiet, having it set to full performance just lets the computer run as it was designed to, it doesn't put any undue stress on the computer so you have nothing to worry about just enjoy your computer as it was supposed to run.
