Goodbye Mom, I love you....

Thursday night my Mom went to bed with a headache. It was pretty severe, so my Dad recounts, but after taking some medication she went to sleep. Friday morning, she was having difficulty getting up, and was only responding with gibberish. She slipped into a coma before the paramedics arrived, and her spirit departed at 7:05 EST(DST) this morning (Tuesday).

Three weeks ago, while her doctor was doing a scan of her kidneys, a shadow was noticed. An MRI, was done to verify the CT scan findings, and the kidney had a tumorous lump. Further scanning showed lung tumors, but the deadliest tumor was found in her brain.

She was advised to get her affairs in order, as she only had a few months ( at most) to live.

My Mom raised 5 boys, and was the social anchor of our entire family. She was a fierce keltic Irish woman, born a Roman Catholic and died with the beatific smile of a saint. The tears are coming again... I love you Mom .... goodbye. :(

Deepest Sympathy prometheos to you and your family. She would obviously have to be a fierce woman to raise 5 boys. She is now a keltic Irish angel. May god give you all the strength to get through one of the hardest times in you life.

    Thankyou, Laura and Darlene.
I'm worried about my Dad, most of all. He's coping, but running on autopilot at the moment. He kept misdialing my phone number today, so I didn't get the message 'til my brother called.
Right now, it's all about contacting her friends and my family which happens to be a diasporic lot. The funeral has been postponed until Monday next, to give Irish, English, USA and Australian branches a chance to attend if they want to. My mother was the eldest of 12;one sister and 10 brothers. She could easiliy handle a mere 5 of her own.

There are no words that can make something like this any better. I know you must have loved your mom as much as I love mine. At least she isn't going to suffer from the tumor much more. Feel beter soon. You are both im my prayers.

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou ..... so very much everybody. Out in the real world, I put on the stoic face, act tough, make the necessary arrangements, quiet the rowdy, comfort the sad, but here, in front of the computer screen, I let the tears flow freely.

I haven't heard sobs like this for too many years to remember. It's good to get it out, now, before the big event tomorrow.

The clans are gathering, the fires are lit, and as the eldest of her clan, I'm expected to speak. It seems, right now that it will be the hardest thing in the world for me; to speak without turning into mush.

As a pall-bearer, I'm praying for a strong grip and sure footing.

Thankyou everybody for your kind words and gentle sentiments. I think I can do this thing. 'Bye for now. :wave
