Awhile back I heard about a 'game' where you try to find a query to which Google lists only ONE entry or page. Forgot the name of the game but it's supposed to be pretty hard (with Google indexing some 8 billion pages now).
    Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Yeah, I saw it at another forum, they called it "google whacking"

never tried it, I'm happy that I got one search down to 1500

a friend of mine said he got a googlewhack which was "flibbertygibbet eleven" ... however, flibretygibbet is spelt wrong, so it doesnt count ;). Even if it did count, google has indexed a page with it on my blog, and now here as well! :p

Its not a word!! It must be 2 words in a dictionary, or it doesn't count ;)

lol.... tis difficult to find anything like that. I was impressed i got google to ONLY return my sites on a search for my sons name of Jack Rewi Angus Wairau (although now it'll no doubt pick up this thread lol), and thats without the quotes!
The problem is, like in the example above, once you find a unique entry, and post about it, google picks it up, n presto, tis no longer unique lol
Logically, if the words have to be dictionary defined, then google will pick up entries in online dictionarys, which can be a bit of a bugger lol
Didnt i read something about Goldfish n cillit bang? hehehe

The thing is, dictionary entries would have to have BOTH of the words on the same page. And if the two words are related, chances are you'll get a lot more hits anyway!

As for a prize? There isn't one, appart from being the proud owner of a googlewhack.

These days you are allowed to add -googlewhack at the end of your search string, which excludes any pages (such as this) which are discussing the fact that these two words are a googlewhack.

How would you use "ergonomical"? That chair is ergonomical. No, that chair is ergonomic or ergonomically designed. You can't just lop the last 2 letters off a word and call it a different word.

lmao.. look it up! Even google Ergonomical. I have a collins english dictionary here which say im correct. Its all over the web too.

*chuckles at the floccinaucinihilipilification word * thats a well known one from the old quiz on bbc 2 ages ago. Not sure of the spelling tho. It was once classed as the longest english word.

I love language, i've written about its usage on my web page! You cant call a foot rest ergonomically footrest... its an ergonomical footrest

Strewth.. BMW advertise their seats as Ergonomical .. and i quote "The powerband was smooth yet strong all the way through the RPM range. The interior is roomy, comfortable and wonderful from an ergonomical standpoint. I didn't want to give it back!" at http://www.truckworld.com/Sport-Utility/01-bmw-x5/01-bmw-x5.html

I do wish people if they are going to attempt to have a go at others for their apparent lack of knowledge would at least bother to make sure they have a standpoint to shout from, otherwise they mearly end up looking foolish themselves

Whoa whoa, I wasn't saying anything about a lack of knowlege. All I'm saying is that it doesn't come up in any of the dictionaries that I've found online.

I wasn't trying to have a go at you :p

Also, if i google "ergonomical" it comes up with Did you mean... suggesting it doesn't know that word and is suggesting one that it does know as a replacement.
