Clicking on Google search results within Chrome and Firefox started redirecting to various search engines about a week ago. Went through the Vista removal procedure; logs attached. Thanks!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

The instructions for TDSSKiller stated the below
You should not have changed the default action from ignore on all those items you removed/quarantine. They were all valid and you likely broke all those applications now.

Who asked you to run ComboFix??? Are you working on another forum?

Which browsers do the redirections occur with? Test ALL browsers you have installed (like IE, Google....etc ) but only have one open at any given time.

Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Note: That JRT will reset your home page to a google default so you will need to restore your home page setting.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.
    Uninstall the below software:
    1ClickDownloader 2.1
    Java(TM) 6 Update 37
    Java(TM) SE Development Kit 6 Update 20
Now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
    • Right-click OTM.exe and select Run as administrator to run it.
    • Copy the lines from the below codebox to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C
(or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy): Do not include the word Code: which is just a title line of
      the code box
    Code:
    :Processes
    explorer.exe
    :Files
    C:\Users\Chester\AppData\LocalLow\Arc542.tmp\BundleInstaller_uverse.exe
    C:\Users\Chester\AppData\LocalLow\mcc53C0.tmp

    :Reg
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\AppID\{BDB69379-802F-4eaf-B541-F8DE92DD98DB}]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\AppID\{EA28B360-05E0-4F93-8150-02891F1D8D3C}]
    :Commands
    [purity]
    [EmptyTemp]
    [start explorer]

    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar
      ) and choose Paste.
    • Now click the large http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/MoveIt!.png button.
    • If OTM asks to reboot your computer, allow it to do so. The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot.
    • Close OTM.
Now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be
saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach
this log file to your next message.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the JRT.txt log
    • the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles log
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

I apologize that I used ComboFix because I saw posts about fixing redirect malware on other forums before making it here. To clarify, when I click on links for search results from Google in Firefox or Chrome, they redirect to another search site. I uninstalled Firefox but still have Chrome, which this is still happening in even after following your latest instructions. IE is working fine. Thanks for all your help.

Okay then uninstall Chrome now. Then reboot. After reboot, delete the below folder:

    C:\Users\Chester\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome

Then if you wish to still use Chrome, use Internet Explorer to download the current version from the below link and reinstall. See the download links under this icon: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/MGDownloadLoc.gif

    Google Chrome 21.0.1180.89 Final

See how it is working after reinstall.

Google search is working correctly in Chrome now after the reinstall. Any other recommended steps like a system restore point before I turn on User Account Control again? Thanks.

    You're welcome.
    Included in the below. ;)

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
    2. Go back to step 4 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
