I've been getting the google redirect in all browsers. I went through the steps in the Fixing Google Redirection/hijacking and other redirection problems thread but was still having problems. I then went through Win 7 Malware Removal/Cleaning Procedure and now I'm on step 4 and still have a problem.

    I have attached these files:

    RKreport[1].txt from RogueKiller
    Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware log
    HitmanPro log
    MGlogs.zip
    gooredfix.xtx

I didn't include TDSSKiller log because it found nothing and as far as I can tell did not create a log.

    Thank you for the help!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!
It always creates a log and you have 5 of them. Only 3 from 12/1/2012 and you should have only run it once. We don't need them now since MGtools auto zipped them into MGlogs.zip.

Rerun RogueKiller and run a scan. After it finishes the scan, select the Registry tab and then select any of the below that still exist and then click the Delete button. If you do not see this lines, just exit RogueKiller and continue, but skip the reboot.
    Then immediately reboot your PC.

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
    • Right-click OTM.exe and select Run as administrator to run it.
    • Copy the lines from the below codebox to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C
(or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy): Do not include the word Code: which is just a title line of
      the code box
    Code:
    :Processes
    explorer.exe
    :Files
    C:\ProgramData\34BE82C4-E596-4e99-A191-52C6199EBF69
    C:\Users\Discovery Garden\AppData\Local\Temp\ywstdogz
    C:\Users\Discovery Garden\AppData\Local\Temp\*.*
    C:\Users\Discovery Garden\AppData\Local\Temp\0.9044101871509773
    C:\Users\Discovery Garden\AppData\Local\Diagnostics\CrashDumps\ywstdogz.dll
    C:\Users\Discovery Garden\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\{47D15514-C814-4471-8602-AF9A68BC6A33

    :Reg
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{2fa28606-de77-4029-af96-b231e3b8f827}]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{2fa28606-de77-4029-af96-b231e3b8f827}]
    :Commands
    [purity]
    [EmptyTemp]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar
      ) and choose Paste.
    • Now click the large http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/MoveIt!.png button.
    • If OTM asks to reboot your computer, allow it to do so. The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot.
    • Close OTM.
Now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be
saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach
this log file to your next message.

After reboot, run a new scan with RogueKiller and save a log as in original instructions and attach the new log.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles log
    • the new RogueKiller log
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

I reran RogueKiller but did not see any of the entries you noted. Then ran OTM per your instructions followed by RogueKiller and then MGTools. Tried to use google but was still having the same problem. I've attached the files you requested. Thank you again for your help! I'm quite an amateur at this.

Okay then let's remove some other unusual entries.

Rerun RogueKiller and run a scan. After it finishes the scan, select the Registry tab and then select any of the below that exist and then click the Delete button.

Then select the Files tab and if the below exist, click the Delete button again.

    Then immediately reboot your PC.

    • the new RogueKiller log
    • C:\MGlogs.zip

I ran RogueKiller and removed the five registry lines you noted. The files tab was blank. Followed the rest of your directions and attached the files.

I tried using google in both ff and ie, I am still redirected. I don't know if this is of any importance but when I google something about half the links work as expected and the others redirect.

Do you have any other PCs on this network? If yes, are they also having problems with redirects?

And one more scan to run.

Now download and save a copy of combofix.exe and save it directly onto your Desktop folder.
    • Then right click on it and select Run As Administrator. Do not disturb it by clicking in the window that opens or it may stall.
    • After it finishes, it may reboot your PC. Attach the C:\combofix.txt log that it creates.
    • If after running Combofix you discover none of your programs will open up because you receive the following error:
      • Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion
    • Then you will need to reboot your computer which will normally fix this problem.

I have one other computer on my home network and it does not have any problems. This computer has the redirect problem even when using my work wifi and at my sister's house so it seems like it is just this computer.

I ran combofix and have attached the log file. I am still getting the redirects.

Thanks again for all your help!

Does it still really occur with ALL browsers? Only have one browser opened at anytime while testing this! Does it occur if you boot in safe mode with networking?

Please explain exactly how the redirections are occurring and where they go to.

Okay then let's try a simple reset to defaults.

    Reset Firefox to Defaults

    Did that resolve the problem?

The firefox reset seems like it solved the problem, thank you!

Do I need to do anything else? I'm guessing I can continue to step 5 - Enable UAC through step 7 but will wait for your advice.

Thanks again for you patience and help!

    You're welcome.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Go back to step 4 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
