I have Google redirection problem in all the browsers - IE, Chrome and Firefox. The issue started 11/24/12.I followed all the steps as given in the READ & RUN ME FIRST. Please find attached all the necessary logs. Couple of observations 1. Right clicking a search result to open in a new tab, always (99% of thtime) opens the page correctly 2. for couple of minutes initially clicking the search result takes to page correctly. After that redirection happens 3. Have no redirection issue with the other laptop, which connects to the same router (ended up buying a new laptop !)

Malwarebytes Anti Malware didn't find any malicious items.
Kaspersky TDSSKiller didn't find any threats

Any help to resolve this is greatly appreciated.

You need to run MSconfig and put your PC into normal startup mode. You should not be using MSconfig to control startup processes and especially services. See: Dealing with Startup Process

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    Java(TM) 6 Update 29
    Java(TM) 6 Update 4
    Java(TM) 6 Update 5
    Java(TM) 6 Update 6
    Java(TM) 6 Update 7
    Java(TM) SE Development Kit 6 Update 17
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6

Now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
    • Right-click OTM.exe and select Run as administrator to run it.
    • Copy the lines from the below codebox to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C
(or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy): Do not include the word Code: which is just a title line of
      the code box
    Code:

    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar
      ) and choose Paste.
    • Now click the large http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/MoveIt!.png button.
    • If OTM asks to reboot your computer, allow it to do so. The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot.
    • Close OTM.
Now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be
saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach
this log file to your next message.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles log
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Thanks, chaslang.
Couldn't get to respond quickly. Sorry about that. Followed all the steps stated in your reply. Please find attached the log files to this reply. Tested the browsers in the following order using google

    3. Chrome - had the redirection issue. Back button never took back to the search results.

Reversed the order of the browsers and tested using the same search string
    1. chrome - redirected to another site
    2. Firefox - redirected to another site (same as chrome. consistent out come!)
    3. IE - No issues !!!

I have attached two screen shots -one showing the seaech string i used and the other showing the 'redirected to page'. On both chrome and firefox, I clicked pcsupport.about.com, fourth one from top.

Normally these kinds of issues with Firefox and Google can require an uninstall, followed by a deletion of related folders, and then a reinstall to fix.

Let's try something else first for Firefox. Try doing the reset to defaults mentioned in the below.

    Reset Firefox to Defaults

See if this fixes Firefox. If not then you will have to do the below.

We are going to be uninstalling your old version of FireFox and installing the new version. So do the below to save bookmarks:
    • Run FireFox and click Bookmarks.
    • Then select Organize Bootmarks.
    • Then on the next window click File and then select Export. Save the bookmarks.html file to your Desktop for later use in importing.
Now download and save the installer for the current version of FireFox but DO NOT install it yet. Get it here: Mozilla FireFox

You will need exit FireFox now and use Internet Explorer to continue with the below until we reinstall FireFox.

Start by uninstalling FireFox and then reboot. Do not skip the reboot.
After reboot, delete the below folders:
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    C:\Users\cutegirl\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla

Now reinstall FireFox from the file previously downloaded.
Import your bookmarks file. (similar process to exporting).

For Google problems, uninstall Google. And then delete the below folder
    C:\Users\cutegirl\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome

Then download and install the below version of Chrome:
    Google Chrome 21.0.1180.89 Final

Did the above fix your problems with Google and Firefox?

    You're welcome.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Go back to step 4 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
