Mountain View, CA (AHN) - Internet security firm SurfControl of northern California has issued a warning to Web users worldwide to avoid downloading an Internet link to a bogus Web site inviting users to download Google tool bar software.

SurfControl said the e-mail started circulating this week which directs the recipient to a supposed Google link. When clicked, users will be directed to a fake replica of the Internet portal.

However, instead of the promised tool bar software, the site will trick people into downloading a "Trojan," a malicious computer coding hidden inside a seemingly harmless offering.

The "malware" will give computer hackers to take control of infected computers thru the internet.

The Internet security firm has warned the public to avoid the fake Web site and update their computers by updating their anti-virus and fire wall.

Google has not commented despite attempts from various news organizations.

    Good Luck! -*COMPUABLE*
