Google Web Accelerator

We have had repeated submissions regarding adding this to our archives. As you know, we test and research everything before posting and I have decided that there are issues with this which makes it not a good idea to add right now. There are issues like slowdowns instead of speedups and some murmors about security cooncerns. I think we will hold off adding it for now until the next beta or a final release.

If you go to the official site as opposed to DownloadAnything.com, it states,

"Thank you for your interest in Google Web Accelerator. We have currently reached our maximum capacity of users and are actively working to increase the number of users we can support"

Whatever that means?

GWA does prefetching,which also is done by firefox,
which is like clicking on all the links on a site and keeping it in cache.

The only difference is firefox allows only prefetching of liks given by the site authors.
Google just automaticaly guesses it by itself.

would you be outside the USA or Europe?

Also note that during the first part of our beta testing period, users outside of North America and Europe may not see much improvement in their web page loading speed.

Good idea. I read a good comparison of a bunch of "accelerators"
some years ago in a computer mag. There wasn't a single one that
only improved download speeds. In other words, all of them at one
point or other slowed down certain parts of the internet experience.
Robbing Peter to pay Paul only works for the government.
