googlemeister chrome insanity plea!!!~

HELP!!! Chrome is driving me nutz! have had to re-install it twice because of malware. each time i re-installed it, i had to reset the passwords. i have 2-step verification. i have a google account and a chrome account. needless to say, i have chrome set up just the way i want it with my apps that i use daily including blogger and word press.

after 2nd re-install, i went to log in - to google. after numerous tries, i finally got into my account. okay, cool. i go to log into chrome. no dice. it won't let me log in and is looking for an application specific password. i try to have them send it to me. they send me a link. it doesn't work. i try to go back to my google account page ----- and somehow i've been signed out (i didn't do it) and guess what - the new password that i just reset doesn't work!!!!!

what i don't understand is this: to sign in to google - i use my yahoo address. chrome wants my google address. but chrome doesn't recognize the new password - or the old one.

scratch that ---- i am stumped! and getting very agitated :cry!!!

can anyone give me simple directions to reset both accounts?!? thanks!!!

(at least the stupid pop-up window issue with it when it was working was resolved when i un/re-installed!)

 

First off, you need to go into your Google account and delete any saved info such as passwords, cookies, etc.. That would mean that you are going to lose any saved favorites, unless you back them up first.

Then you should be able to correct the problem.

 

Thanks. I finally got into it all. i had to delete the other 2 app-specific passwords to sign in to chrome. what a pain in the neck!! i've had to redo it twice in the past few days. hopefully now i've got it right.

sorry if i was venting a little :-o new littler of pups being born while i'm doing this isn't exactly the best distraction!

 

Hi again all. I am stuck in a perpetual Google Hell. I was back into Chrome, had turned off 2 step verification (I thought) for everything. I've been using FireFox. but cannot enter Google or any site affiliated with it i.e. logging in to YouTube because it's asking for 2-step verification for everything. I no longer have either of the phone numbers associated with the account and apparently they can't send the code to my back-up e-mail. They tell me I have to wait 3-5 days for someone to contact me to get back into it. This happened last Friday and I'm still waiting.

Also: I have not changed the computer I have been using. I am on my own laptop! I have made sure to check the "add this computer to trusted whatever else it says" box. :banghead Why does Google always ask me to do this if it can tell it's the same computer. I don't get it.

Anyway, if anyone ideas or hints on how to just get back into my google account, i'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
