So that site I opened a thread about a day or two ago, Openload.co, that I wasn't having any trouble with, I'm now having trouble with. I accessed it in Chrome for the first and last time. Went to a page where I'd uploaded a video, got redirected to the same page but with an address that read oladblock.me instead of openload.co, clicked play on the video and got a popup, which I was able to close, but then when I clicked play again, two more popups appeared in the top left and bottom right corners of my screen and they both kept blinking in and out. Had to just close the main window to get away from them. Will probably have to do a virus scan now. Won't be using openload.co again. Assumed if I was OK in Firefox, I'd be OK in Chrome too but I guess not. But now I've got this other problem. I opened up Task Manager to see what my CPU usage was at and it was through the roof. Kept spiking at 100%. Panicked because I thought I was running a cryptominer but it turns out it's this thing called Software Reporter Tool from Google. I've got four instances of it running right now for some reason and it's causing spikes in my CPU and disk usage. What should I do?

Kill the tasks in 'TaskManager'. Run microsoft's 'Autoruns' and delete anything related.

Go add/remove programs if it's there remove it. Delete it if in AppsData, C:\Temp, C:\Windows\Temp, Scan the registry for the name and delete all. Or - Do the Read and run me first in the malware section and the expert there will help clean your system!

Didn't need to do this, they'd already killed themselves; and my CPU usage is back to normal.

I don't understand. Related to what?

If you run AutoRuns it will list the executible and the program or company that it comes from. If it's from google Software updater tool. Disable or delete it. That is what you're looking for, right?

It's not called Software Updater Tool, it's called Software Reporter Tool. And AutoRuns tells you the programs that run on startup, right? This didn't run for me on startup; it started running after I got those popups when visiting openload.co
