Got infected by some virus or malware and now I can't boot up

I got a weird message when I was clicked on a link for subtitles to movies. It popped up a message saying Microsoft Security Alert with a red screen. It looked fake but I couldn't shut the pc down. I tried Cntrl Alt Del and that didn't allow me to end that screen task. I eventually held the button down on the pc until it shut off. Now I cant boot up past the Dell screen and when I hit F8 to boot in safe mode it gives me a black screen for ever. What do I do... Please somebody help... this is my work computer.

You neglected to tell us what OS you are using.

Do you have your OS cd?

You can try creating one of these discs and try booting to it ( you need to change the boot order in the bios to make the cd-rom the first boot device ).
