Got locked out of My Computer

Don't know what happened but when I left clicked "My Computer," the dialog box came up, "empty", and then disappeared, and the icons and task bar on my desktop also disappeared too, then the icons and taskbar came back but I was still unable to get into "My Computer." The only things I had installed prior to this was the October security updates and updated Sun Java. I have since uninstalled the security updates and that didn't seem to make a difference, but I had not restarted the computer, and I also uninstalled Java too. Then rebooted and every thing is okay now. I know I am going to need Java at some time or other, and I hate to be without the security updates. Does anyone have any idea why either one of these would cause that? Neither seems likely, but you know these boxes, and then who knows these boxes?

 

Chances are that it was one of the Microsoft security updates and not Java, that caused your problem. It has been mentioned on net all week. The articles said that it seem to affect people that had altered their ACL permissions! Hope this helps.
