Got my driving licence!

Yay. And its got a suitabley bad photo of me on it!

However, now comes the nightmare of getting insurance for a 17 year old. My mum's current company won't let her add me because I'm too young, so we're going to change to another company. Norich union are looking good right now, and so is quotelinedirect.co.uk . It's still about 3 times more than my mums current insurance, which is just a bit crazy! Ahh well, once I'm 25 I won't have this problem

I've also booked driving lessons with the AA, 2 hours week on monday, starting at 5pm. Ooooooo. But I'm gunna practice doing a little bit of driving in my estate first, just so as to not waste time. Don't wanna be stalling the car all the time on my first lesson (but I invariably will...)!

Oooh, the excitement! Finally I'll be able to drive to clients houses soon! And friends houses... yes indeed.

I even lived in England a couple of years….but, I would have thought, that you would get a permit, then lessons, take another driving test, then the license with your photo……..

….here in California, you study and take a written test, to get your driving permit…then instruction with a driving instructor, and last another writing test, plus a driving test, and if you pass, then they’ll take your photo…….wobbles

Well, sort of.

The insurance hassle is frustrating. No matter how cautious, skilled, or mature your driving is, you're stuck in the highest accident group out there, and insurance companies don't LIKE you because of that. All you can do is outlive that bracket.

 

Mmm hmm. Its a shame, really. Its a good thing I've not changed my car at all. Most of the "chavs" who drive around with spinners, neons, chromed non-restrictive exhausts and fat tyres... they must be CRIPPLED by insurance! They're in the same bracket as me and every single addition adds to your premium. Even alloys.

Yeah the deal is here you need a provisional that lets you go on the road, you take lessons (on the road) for a while, you do your theory test then you do your practical test then you get your full licence You can only drive on the road with provisional if you are accompanied by someone who has passed their test for at least 3 years.

 

EEEKKKK Goldy driving... i'll warn all my UK friend to stay off the roads and sidewalks!!! (J/K)

Wow. Here in the US all you have to do is get your picture taken and buy a car.... (essentially) . Just be safe, guy. Congratulations !!

 

I know, it seems a little crazy to me that its that easy to get into a machine thats capable of causing some serious damage with no previous training.

I've got my first lesson week monday, 5pm. If im here at that time, shout at me! booked it with the AA as opposed to BSM. Partly because I've only heard bad things about BSM, and mainly becausee the AA have ford focuses instead of vauxhall (GM/opel) corsas And they're a little cheaper too.

 

Man that some crazy suspention.

I wonder what it would be like going round roundabouts in that thing? Or would it be... slideabout?

Drive safe and legal fer goshsakes! It's a clean driving record that impresses the insurance company beancounters (actuaries). The bling-bling and other atrocious gingerbread people drape their vehicles with is only secondary in affecting insurance rates.

Goldy as a boy racer is a bit disturbing... im with zurich insurance atm and it's pretty goodI don't have to pay it though...and my car is probs a bit more powerful then yours =p
