Gramps

I'm a Grandpa now. A bit of a different situation. My son broke up with his girlfriend before they knew she was pregnant. They won't be getting back together, but he went to prenatal with her and the delivery, (with complications) and is fully involved with all aspects like diapers now.
Ryon was full term but only weighed 5lb 3oz, stopped breathing, and spent the first two days in an Isolette, and his mom lost a lot of blood during delivery. So thing were a little scary for a while. All is good now. He's put on almost a pound in two weeks.

It was nice that your son was there for the birth ... I still remember helping with the births and cutting the cords of both of my children as two of the most wonderful things I have done in my life :cool

Pity the parents aren't getting back together but sometimes things just don't work out and it is no use them staying together just for the kid's sake especially if it is going to be an unhappy or stressful household. Kids are very adaptable and long as they are loved and get support things should work out.
Are you going to stay in touch with your grandson? Would be great if you do and the bonus is that kids always love their grandparents

Sorry about the complications - went through two miscarriages and two cesareans with the wife, myself. It's never easy, but he'll be fine, I'm sure.

 

Congratulations, Sibeer!! Hope you and your family stay in touch with Ryon. He'll want love and security from both sides of the family. Knowing that your son went to the delivery and is involved shows that he still does care for his ex-girlfriend and especially his son.

I have to say, that is one nice looking baby. Most of them are not very attractive.

Thanks everyone. Fortunately we will have very close contact with him. My son is on the birth certificate, and he and Ryon's mom have a decent relationship. He's staying at her place for now to help with the baby raising. My wife and I get along well with her.
Both her and Ryon are doing very well.
