   The graphics card in this computer I am working on shows up as an unknown (with the yellow question mark.) I install the drivers (nvidias latest,) and it all works fine. If I reboot it goes away again and looks unknown.
   
   So I tried an ati card with the same results. Any ideas whats going on here?

   May need some more information on your computer specs, mainly what motherboard and version, I wonder if your motherboard has onboard graphics which need to be disabled first.
   
   have you just installed the card/s or was it working ok before?

   A friend of mine had this and it turned out that his HDD was playing up. may be worth running a diag just in case...
