Hi users of MajorGeeks. I've been around countless forums and tried to get an answer to my problem but I haven't and I hope this forum can help me out. I would really really appreciate it.

So, I'm a regular CS player and unfortunately, I always have this "lightmap texture" problem. It usually happens when grenades are thrown. Sometimes, when the grenade is thrown, I am kicked out of CS with an error message saying lightmap texture problem 702 luxelsl; exceeds 324 luxels. I assume it's my graphics card because I have tried changing everything on CS. I have a NVIDIA Geforce FX Go5200 with 64 MB VRam. I know it's powerful enough but I do not know how to tweak it in a way so I can either raise the lightmap limit, or whatever it takes.

Thanks to everyone who reads this, I really appreciate your help.

I THINK so, I downloaded some off of NVIDIA's website, I probably misplaced them though because I don't know where my graphics card folder is.

Try looking around in your options for CS. There might be a option that will let you disable light mapping. I was having the same problem with BFV.

Also here are the newest drivers from nVidia. I am assuming you have eather winXP or Win2000. That is what the drivers are for. :)

Cool, which folder would I put it in though? I don't see any Nvidia folder or graphics card folder on my labtop.

And I tried messing around with the options, one of menus was screwed up and it may have that lightmap option.

When you install. Just make a new folder. Also make sure you uninstall your old drivers first, then restart, then install the new ones, then restart. :)

Its ok, if this is your first time doing this no one can expect you know what to do. :)

Ok go to start, settings, control pannel, add/remove programs,

Look in the list for the drivers. Usually nVidia Drivers. Or Nvidia Display

Something close to that. Click on it and then remove. Please be sure to only remove your display drivers, not anything else!!!!

Restart the computer, then install the new drivers. then restart. :)

Well, I have removed the old drivers, and installed the new one into the old folder in system23.. however, I don't believe it has been installed correctly since my display is huge and it's laggy to even scroll through a website. I must be stupid but I'm not installing this correctly, any comments?

I am the quintescential PC idiot, but this did happen to me (albeit not with a gaming graphics card). After I tried everything else (uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers) I cracked the case again and noticed that the card had not been secured correctly in the AGP slot. I pulled it out, snapped it back in, fired it up, reinstalled the drivers and it worked fine. I'm sure you've already done that, but IF you haven't.....

after you install the new drivers sometimes you have to reset refresh rate and display settings.
