Go with either the Geforce 8600GT or the Radeon HD3650 512mb. If it were up to me, I'd get the 8600GT any day over the Radeon. This is part opinion and part fact: the new series of ATI video cards (namely the 3000 series) has a very ineffecient driver so ATI crams a bunch of extra stream processors onto it's cards to make up for this (fact). This tells me that ATI is either too lazy to get it right or in too much of a hurry to get something to market to compete with nVidia (opinion). Either way, it just doesn't look good. NVidia has always had the best cards in the long run; ATI may have a faster card for little while, but it will inevitably be swept aside by an NVidia card. Don't get me wrong, my last video card was an ATI and I loved it! It rocked. But it was from an older generation (the x1950) and it just kicked butt, and it was one of the fastest cards made at the time. But even when I was a happy owner of the ATI card, I still understood and accepted that NVidia was the reigning champion, and probably always will be. Just looking at some specs tells the story: the HD3850 has 320 stream processors; the Geforce 9600GT has 64 stream processors. The cards perform about equally, with the Nvidia having an overall edge. Now, how can 64 SPs hope to compete with 320 SPs? Efficient drivers and high quality hardware. The only way that ATI could keep up was to use eight times as many stream processors! And the ATI card still is not the hands down winner.... if that doesn't say all you need to know about the new ATI cards, I don't know what does.

I have Galaxy 8600 gt 512,and I can tell you this is realy good card. And as DLB says Nvidia still have the best drivers for graphic cards.ROCK SOLID!!!And I have 1650 pro Ati (good times),but that was then.I can recomend you to buy 9600gt 512 (Galaxy),cos its realy good middle card with 256 bit (8600 have 128)so it's up to you.

Just because it has a gig of memory doesn't make that 8500 a good card. It may have a low price and combined with all the RAM on board it probably looks like a good deal. Personally, I don't think the 8500 has fast enough clocks to take full advantage of the 1gb of memory. As stated above, if you can afford it, get the 9600GT, but from your listing it seems that you have a budget. Of all the cards you listed, the 8600GT is definitely the best. The 8600 has twice the stream processors of the 8500 (32 vs. 16 on the 8500) and the memory clock is almost twice that of the 8500 (1400mhz vs. 800mhz on the 8500). IMHO, the 8600GT is the best value in video cards today. It has a fantastic performance/price ratio. The 8600GTS is a heck of a card too, but a bit more expensive.
