Graphics Question

I'm playing the game Command & Conquer Generals and my computer slows down with the 3D shadows on. I dunno y. I can turn everything else to max but the 3D Shadows make the framerate slower when around many objects with shadows. This is my setup

Pentium 4 1.3Ghz Processor 400Mhz FSB
Intel D850GB Mobo
768MB PC800 RDRAM
256MB GeForce FX 5700LE

What affects shadows?

 

odds are, it's a driver or game issue. have you downloaded the newest drivers for your video card and the latest game update? i recall having a shadow trouble with my nvidia ti4200 once, and an updated driver fixed that issue.

 

they are all fully updated...

 

the reason it's slowed down is because the LE version is a highly crippled 5700. Shadows test a card very much so don't worry too much because it slows down.

 

How come the LE was more expensive than the regualar 5700 then?

 

It shouldent have been, the le is basically a 5200fx...

BTW... your cpu ant the greatest either, was one of the first P4's they made I think. And shadows are pretty demanding on the comp. You really should have gone with a faster 128mb card as well, stupid marketing tricking people..

 

it shouldn't have been more expensive. sorry but you got screwed in that deal. i got a 5700 ultra for $148
