GRC's Securable and AVG

'evening all

I am sure you all are aware of SecurAble from the Gibson Research Corporation. Good little program except that AVG is kicking it out suggesting that it contains the SHear.apr trojan. Funnily enough I cannot find any info on this trojan at all. Re-downloading it immediately causes AVG to kick up a fuss.

Can you confirm this? Is it a special feature on Securable - to test the anti-virus capabilities?

Has our friend Steve turned to the dark side or has AVG put out a false positive?

Seems Grisoft and AVG are having a few false positive issues at present, http://forum.grisoft.cz/freeforum/read.php?4,104381,backpage=,sv= and http://forum.grisoft.cz/freeforum/read.php?4,104095,backpage=,sv=

I ran my AV on that file from Steve Gibson and knowing his background on security its likely his files are not infected, but my AV came up clean and I also ran it through http://virusscan.jotti.org/ and yes current virus def file for AVG finds a trojan, on balance and seeing many other false positives over last week with AVG, I would be option for the file is safe and as a user of AVG, maybe worth sending the file with note to AVG virus @ grisoft.com

also check to see if there are not updates of the defs today.
