i know this must happen to someone else. A really popular movie that other people love that you yourself do not like and refuse to watch.
For me it's Kill Bill. Other people rave about the film and say it's amazing, but truthfully I found the dialogue so poor that I couldn't make it through all the way on the first watching. I more or less had to be strapped down before I made it through.

    What about you guys?

    I LOVED Kill Bill!

Mine would be Godfather. I have tried that movie a number of times and just don't find the subject matter all that interesting.

I could not watch it, bored, walked out. The other was something like The English Patient? OMG tried 3 times and could not get past the first 20 minutes.

Pulp Fiction - if it wasn't for Uma Thurmond, what would be the point?
Superbad - worst.movie.ever. Not even funny in a juvenile way. Couldn't even finish it, glad I didn't pay to see it.

I can't do things like "Gone with the wind".. or "Brokeback Mountain"..
    Superbad was Superbad.. don't bother.
Blazing Saddles.. a few funny things.. but meh to the rest.
Princess Bride.. it's funnier now that I'm older, but I still won't go out of my way to watch it.

ALL HAIL "MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRRRRRRAIL" :D

'Brokeback Mountain' ~ Blegh! Yeah, the whole camp cowboy thing definitely didn't do it for me.

I agree, 'Superbad' lived up to its name ~ Superbly bad.

'High School Musical' - I don't do musicals at the best of time, and this one sucked real bad. A friend of mine had it on when I was having dinner at her place. I was like, "I, uh...gotta go, I think I left the oven on, or something!" Still haven't lived that one down to this day. rolleyes

Ya Kodo, I can just imagine you in that 'Blazing Saddles' campfire and beans scene.-D

I bought brokeback mountain just because my bf forbade me too, but it's still in cellophane. I told him he doesnt want to watch it because it'll use it's magic gay powers to turn him into a gay cowboy too.

If my wife has one more weekend of a Molly Ringwald marathon...I'm gonna puke!!

It's worse than torture...you hate the stupid movie, but while you're on the couch trying to mind your own business on the laptop, and to no avail you end up watching the Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles cause you can't help but laugh at the styles and trends of those days. Another one is Ferris Buehlers Day Off....It was funny the first few hundred times, but some weekends it seems as though it is on EVERY FREAKING CHANNEL on the dish!!!!

I know none of these are "CLASSICS" so to speak, but never the less...they were popular movies in the day.

As far as movies that were/are considered at the top....one that I just couldn't get into was Saving Private Ryan.

Schindler's List, on the other hand...is probably the best movie ticket I've ever bought in my life!! That is the one and only movie where I seen an entire packed theater sit through the entire ending credits...and you could've heard a pin drop too. I'm glad we did though, otherwise I would have never seen the bit at the end with the grave.

While everyone here is talking about superbad, I might as well throw out another movie that is even more terrible but people that it was the funniest thing ever: Napolean Dynamite. Just recently I saw somthing that rated it as one of the top 10 funniest moves of all time... I mean I didn't even smile when I saw that movie..

Also Transformers is another movie that everyone loved and for me it was just dumb. Only thing it was good for was eye candy

I still love Casablanca and It Happened One Night-

    Loved The Notebook!
Love Nic Cage and fast cars- Nic and Cher rocked.
Schindler's list got a standing O in the theater I was in.
Loved Dark Knight! Heath was amazing.

2 days ago, I would have posted something along the lines of "Yeah, they're stupid but I do get a kick out of them occasionally".

On Tuesday night, a friend of mine lent me a CD of various Adam Sandler skits. Within 15 seconds of the first skit, my jaw was on the floor. Within 30 seconds the nausea hit, and 2 seconds after that the CD was out of the player faster than Celine Dion would be. Not to get into details, but I would say it would be on the verge of being considered the obscene, disturbing thing I've ever heard. (Only details I will provide - It's the Vice Principal of the High School skit...).

Oh, and Great Movies that I don't like?
    Titanic
    The English Patient
    and Forrest Gump (shudder)

Ah I agree with Napoleon Dynamite. I didn't really see what all the fuss was about when I saw it. Not to mention people were quoting it sporadically for the better part of 3 months after it came out and there weren't very many quotable lines.
