XBOX or Playstation2 ?

I am going to buy one soon and would like anyones opinion on it.

Im thinkign you should hold off a bit. I heard next version of playstation is going to have a DVD burner in it and some other goodies.


All my friends here have both and all they can say is that it depends on what games you are after. Most of them lean towards the playstation.

 

I had a PS2 but it just up and quit on me. Now, like you, I'm working on getting a new system. But I think I'm going to go with the Xbox. only because it has the better online service. But I do want to wait a bit till I see what they do for the X-mas season.

 

Only prob is ps3 and xbox2 won't be here until 2005

 

I've been a die hard Playstation supporter since I got the original one. I say Playstation 2.

 

GameCube is better than X-Box. I own a Cube and I love it. I have played X-Box and the games are garbage.

Dude I work with highly suggests XBox. I can't comment, as I own neither, but according to this guy I work with, he says the graphics on the XBox blow PC graphics away. I just looked at him like he was crazy.

 

i say go Xbox my order goes
1st xbox, mainly halo, halo 2, now has GTA 3 and VC, and other games coming out soon, more powerful than ps2
2nd gamecube Resident evil series (die-hard fan) mario cart double dash and metroid prime
3rd ps2 all my friends ps2 are crap always have problems reading discs, i have never had that prob with xbox or gamecube, ps2 did have a lot of good games but none recently that are specific to ps2, and now that Vice city is on xbox no need for ps2

Games tend to come out for PS2 first then XBOX later.

There's not a HUGE difference in graphics; but XBOX's is noticebly better.

I like PS2 better just because of Grand Turismo 3 |Best racing game ever!| (soon to be 4). Im a car nut.

I have to go with PS2 as well & I must agree about GT3. It is one of the best looking car games ever.

 

Personally, I would not even include Xbox in the choice.

Gamecube vs. Playstation 2

I have the GC, mostly because I have a 6 and a 3 year old. But I must admit, the games for that machine are a lot of fun.

If I didn't have kids I would have purchased the PS2 because it has a ton of games that I would like.

I still prefer to play games on my PC anyway. I have a PS1, but it only gathers dust now even though I have a lot of fun games for that one too.

Thanks for all of your input but I am going with XBOX, for 1, the graphics blow away gamecube or PS2....I played both this weekend and while pS2 is not bad it does not compare with Xbox's ability when it comes to textures etc. 2. I can pull the HD out of the XBOX and put a 240gb drive in it and then copy all of my games to the hard drive . Game cube was not an option for me because personally....well I hate it lol...but that is my opinion. 3. Which console will have Doom 3?......thats right...XBOX.....developers said that PS2 would not be able to handle DOOM 3.

PC will also have Doom 3. most good XBOX games are also PC games either first or at the same time. I have both xbox and ps2 and i have to tell you xbox does have better graphics but it doesnt have better games. the only decent xbox games i've found are mech assault and halo. mech assault got boring after a couple weeks and halo's out for the pc. just a last thought.

PSX id basically a ps2 on steriods, a ps2, tivo, with a big HD, and DVD/RW, still the same graphics i have a computer for all that other stuff, and i was never a fan of tivo, so would i pay $800 for something with worse graphics than $180 XBOX, no, i could spend $400 and put that stuff in my computer for less and if i didnt have an xbox, but that and 4 games for the $800 i could have spent on a PSX, but thats all just my opinion

 

i dont know, i like the xbox controller alright, but as far as controller confort goes gamecube wins there, xbox is getting a lot better games at 1st all there was, was halo but now, got a lot of good ones coming up halo 2, doom 3, fable, BC, ninja gaiden.....etc, but if i had the ultimate choice it would be a badarse PC

 

This may not be terribly popular, but:
1) Gamecube: they know how to code for this syste...it may be the weakest but they have awesome grafics and they are starting to release more 'adult' titles.
2)PS2: So many games -especially when you consider backwards compatibility -plus all the new cool games that are comming out in th enot too distant future.
3)XBox: So powerfull -it has a couple of great games, too! -but it's future is sooooo uncertain.
If you are teen/adult I would probably vote ps2 -but I have chosen GC as mu main console: XBox is too questionable fo me (despite the sheer power of the thing).

Well maybe the guy you work with is still using a 3dFX Voodoo card from the 90s. The Xbox certainly cant touch any of the last 2 generations of PC video cards.

 

Maybe you should rent each and see what games you like. The console market is pretty close right now and if you have a "Must Play" game it may not be available on both platforms.

 

Right now my GC gets more use than my PS2... and my xbox is used primarily as a cd/dvd player. Occasionally I'll fire up a game in it but not all that often. Then again, the only GC game i have is Rogue Squadron 3

You know what you should get? An original nintendo nes system and you can get tons of games for super cheap... but if older isnt better get a PS2, I love mine.

 

It depends

I own a PS2 but play XBOX too. I'd say the PS2 has better games as a whole, but XBOX has that umph to it that PS2 just can't provide. Try playing games like HALO on a PS2, I say
