Grumble...

Just when I needed to use my CD-Burner the most.. it up and dies on me..
Bloody wonderful..

 

I replaced one last week and know the feeling!

 

For what it's worth I've had good luck with CD/DVD burners since I went with Sony products (or Light-on, which is essentially the same). Haven't lost one since (around 4 years now).

 

for what its worth i thought mine died to (lite-on 52x32x52x cd-rw) because it would not read burned disks it would only read factory disks and so i just to hell with it i am never going to hear back from lite-on so i just pulled it out opened it up and cleaned the lens with some cleaning stuff and now it works like new. so what makes you think it died?

 

Time for a spanking new, dual-layer DVD burner, Kodosan, heh!, heh!

 

Mine just died, I decided to get a whole new system tho so grabbed one with it which everyone is telling me the lite on sucks, buuuuut hopefully it'll work out

 

it was a Lite-On that died on me. In its defense, I've had it since 2000.. so. I think 5 years is somewhat decent. On the other hand, my plextor is going 7 years.

 

My plextor in my old PC has been going 6 years. I'm pretty impressed with them. My Lite-On in my new PC I've used once so ask me again in 5 years
