GTA 4 pc

hi, have just installed gta 4 on my pc, i am tryin to adjust the graphic settings abit. unfortunatly when i pause the game i can only see the map, when i press the arrow keys to switch screen i can only see slider bars but no writing.
havent got a clue were to start so hopefull someone can help me.

specs: 9500 amd phenom quad core
2gb ram
8800gts

 

This might not be the most helpful suggestion, but have you tried adjusting settings from the options menu on the title screen prior to playing? Obviously, you should be able to from the title screen or in-game, but it's an idea at least.

Barring that probably not so helpful idea, here is a link to the most current nvidia drivers approved for use with gta iv, and here is a link to rockstar support.

I'd probably start with the drivers and then bug their support staff if that doesn't resolve it. It may also just be a simple error in installation that a re-installation would fix. Good luck, gta iv is a great game, but a serious pita to get working properly.
