    Hi

Is this the same motherboard the old CPU was installed in? if so try reseting CMOS, the BIOS in other words and check theta the motherboard doesnt have a bios update for any newer CPU support, if so flash your BIOS to makers instructions and theh reset your default settings in bios.

Having played GTA IV and experienced the performace woes I would say you're GPU is not nearly powerful enough to handle it, I wouldn't play it on anything less than a 9800GT 512MB.

You see GTA IV is a really RAM,CPU & GPU intensive game, if you havn't got a descent standard all round you will get experiance slow perfromace. I might even go as far as to say you're system is being bottlenecked by you're GPU in gameplay.

Hello, welcome to MG support forum.

Looking at your PC specs it is definitely your graphics card, what's recommended is 512 MB Nvidia 8600 / 512 MB ATI 3870 (from wiki) so yeah there will be a major difference in upgrading to a better card, but I can tell you and others will too that something along the lines of 8600 isn't enough so at least like 8800gtx or 9600GT.

Depending on the settings you wanna play GTA IV at you will need differnat specs to run it at a descent frame rate, I can run GTA IV with everything maxed except the draw distance is 22 (same as the consoles) & the distance detail is 22 (why have it higher than I can actually see right LOL

I personally wouldn't reconmend anything less than a GF 9800GT as a 9600GT is just an 8800GT with a new cover, just like the new GTX 250 is just a 9800GT with a new face :-D Cause nVidia like to screw over it's customers getting them to buy something the may already have. Imaging how annoyed you would be getting a brand new 8800GT when they came out then a while later getting a 9600GT and finding out they are one and the same :-D

Enough of my nVidia rant rolleyes

Like I said 9800GT and up for GTA IV in my opinion it's what I used to use & it was ok for a while.
