gta san andreas not saving

hi basically my gta san andreason the pc is working fine and it will not allow me to save a game. I was wondering if anyone can help me fix this problem because this probelm is holding me bak from completing the game

Do you get an error message when saving the game ? Possibly there is a permission error on the save game folder. Are you using cheats ? Some games won't let you save if using cheats.

 

yess i used a few cheats and i copied my save game folder
from my other hardrive so what is the best thing to do so that it will allow me to save

You didn't answer my question about an error message. Its a bit hard to help with so little information

 

Sorry for giving u little information I will start from the beginning. I bought some new hardware so because of dat i had to reinstall my computer before reinstalling my computer i copied the GTA San Andreas user files on to usb . After the new installation of windows xp had finhed reintalled the game where i did not see a new GTA San Andreas User files made ,so i copied my old user files into my documents. Then when i started the game and wanted to save i couldnt giving error message saying 'save game error check directory. It was along these lines.

Before when i could save i did use cheats in the game

Ah ok. Its possible you have copied too much data. Try starting a new game with a new profile and see if you can find the folder where its created that and replace the file INSIDE it.

Sorry but I don't have GTA so this is about the only advice I can offer. Can you LOAD games from the data you copied over ?

Yes. You should always instal game release patchs as they normally fix bugs in the game. One of these bugs could be causeing this issue. (If the patch is big then why not put it on a cd incase you need to reinstal gta later.)

 

When you activate cheat mode in San Andreas, the game warns you that any save file you try to make may be corrupted.. other than that I would just guess you copied the files to the wrong directory, or perhaps the game didn't like the creation date of the directory since you created it yourself.

 

its me again but still wont allow me to save or load a game does anyoen know what i can do get over the corruption of my save game files

 

have you tried reinstalling windows?

 

Extreme problems might need extreme fixes.

What I would do is copy over the entire older Rockstar Games folder in Program Files to replace the newly installed one.
IF you can do that now.

After I would remove the old user data from your "My Documents"
I don't think GTA likes that location.

 

i had this problem before. you did something wrong just like me.

first make a copy of your save game folder and place it somewhere safe.
Thin uninstall GTA: SA. Make sure the save game folder was deleted with the game in the uninstall.
now reinstall the game. Dont put in the save games yet.
Start the game up set all your settings and all thin exit.
now you should see a new save game folder in My Doc's
Now just open up the folder that has your saved games and place them in the new folder. and thats it you should be able to load them, play them, and save them.
