Could any of you kind people reccomend any online guides to cleaning a laptops innards safely and properly. Like what to use and saftey precautions. I have opened my system before and used a very soft brush to gently brush away any dust but was worried I may do damage. I want to open this again today but would like to make sure I do everything correctly this time as I dont want a £400 door wedge instead of a precious computer.

    Thanks in advance. ;)

Nice one for that link musksnipe. ;)

When I said I had opened my system before, I didnt mean totally. I removed the memory, hdd, and fan openings, seen no dust except a little around the fan, and I gave everywhere I could see a little brush (with a soft make up brush).

I have just attempted to open this, removed every screw I could find but could not open the case. I didnt want too use too much brute force in case I broke it. The only screws I couldnt get too were between the bottom of my screen and the casing itself. Does the screen usualy have to come off? Ive looked online for a guide to no avail.

I took this picture of my fan, Is my processor underneath where I have circled could anyone please tell me? If so is it safe to unscrew the cover or should I blow air through there? I have blew with my breath but no dust came out. This computer is only 7-8 months old now. Im just concerned with the temperature of my cpu, it was 84 after only being on an hour before. Last week it was 70+ it keeps rising.

At the opening of the cpu cooler where the two yellow triangles are blow compressed air into that opening the opposite way the fan blows any fluff or hairballs usually come out or get stuck at the fan, just pulls them out with a matchstick or something

Then get a bright torch and shine in at the fan intake on the right 'or hold the laptop up to a light' then look into the opening on the left and you should be able to see through all the fins on the heatsink if you can they are clear:)

One thing about canned air- if you spray it too long, liquid will spray out, then the can gets REALLY cold (like covered with ice) and then it stops spraying altogether. So be careful. If you have access to one, use an air compressor. You can buy small hobbyist compressors for under $100 US in most hobby stores or tool/hardware stores.

Yes but be very careful you turn the psi way down on your air compressor if using to clean electronics as you can blow components off boards and such if not very careful.
