Still a problem with too much moisture in the air and the drying not going right. I'll try to get a picture up tomorrow afternoon for you to view and see if you have any ideas.

A friend of mine recently painted his Strat and had a lot of problems. The finish looks like a total nightmare but he's convinced himself it looks artsy and unique so he's keeping it for awhile. The pics here look much better. Good luck. It's too much work for me to ever try.

So tell me a little more about what's happening with the finish exactly. Post a pic of it if possible. You may want to hang it in a bathroom for a few days so the chemicals will go off. There is a bathroom in the shop and we hang guitars in there for weeks at a time if necessary. I have to do some detail this week and its been raining like crazy so there is a TON of moisture but it wont be to big of a deal. Did you spray outside or inside?

OK might give it a try if I can, as we're probably moving soon, let y'al know when and if it's definite!
I sprayed it outdoors, not enough space in garage or shed. However, I did it at about 5 in the afternoon, I break up on wednesday so on thursday at about midday I'll give it a shot and see how it goes. I'll go take a pic now and post them.

Cant tell to much but it looks like you are holding the spray can at different distances away from the body when spraying. You need to be about 8 inches roughly away, maybe a little more, and let the paint flow over the body so it doesn't collect in one spot so heavily. Man I wish you lived closer. Could just take it to the shop and do it right.

OK we've been working on it this evening, sprayed it in the garage and from a further distance and it looks better already!
Should hopefully be done by the end of the week and I'll be playing loud again wooohooo!

I've been kinda eves-dropping on this-- just actually got time to REGISTER today.... This whole guitar painting process can be a pain-- but thanx bluesy for the tips!

Anyone ever tried that 3 stage color-change paint on a guitar? That's my latest project--any tips?

Use pearlescent and it's very expensive to do that effect, to cover a car in it, start's at at least £1300

The stuff I am using is made by Valspar company. It's the copper/green color. I'm also using a gloss metal flake black around the edges for a starburst effect. The only reason I know it'll work is because I had it completely done until the clear coat started screwing up.....
