Hi all. I haven't been here for ages, but I did a really , really stupid thing. I let my 19 year old son take my netbook on holiday to Greece with him so that he could catch up with some college work, and guess what? He brought it back with goodness knows what on it, AND didn't catch up on any work :cry

My poor netbook is suffering badly, I am typing this on my iPad as spybot is running on the netbook. I'm reading all about what to do when spybot, in safe mode has finished, but then I'll be back, and I'll need lots of help!

Still, at least he didn't lose/sell/swap the netbook, so I can be grateful for something. I think! Arrrrrrrggghhhhhh!

    Hi...sorry to hear that...frustrating, I know.

At Majorgeeks, we have a specific removal procedure you'll have to follow if you'd like us to help you out.

You should perform all steps in this thread: READ & RUN ME FIRST Malware Removal Guide (incl. spyware, virus, trojan, hijacker)

After you have completed it, you should post all the requested logs in a new thread in our Malware Forum. They are very good and should be able to help you out.

    Good luck.:)

Things are going from bad to worse. I was going to do all those things I need to do to start the de-bug thing on my netbook, but I can't connect to my router!! When I fired up my work's laptop this morning, I noticed that my I coiuld no longer connect to the 'usual' name, is Belkin.738, but underneath this name there is one called Belkin.738.5GHz, WPA protected. I tried to connect to that one, and entered my usual password, and it worked!
It also worked with my iPad, but when I look for that router name with my netbook, it isn't there, I can only see the original Belkin.738 but I can't connect to that one! How could my router name have changed overnight? Has the virus accessed my router? I'm panicking now, as I work from home a lot and can't afford to be messing around with network connections. Plus, I can't connect to this router from my work's laptop, it might be something to do with the VPN settings. HELP!

    Hello.

If you cannot access the internet, then you will need to copy the tools to a flash drive or CD/DVD disc to transfer them to the infected netbook.

    Hello,

Well........I managed to connect directly to the router by connecting the netbook with a cable, and I connected to the internet and downloaded PC Unleashed. It took ages to run, and I have been playing around with it all day before the router gave up the ghost and now refuses to switch on. So, I bought a new one, (a netgear) and I've managed to connect everything to the new network, and so far, this netbook is behaving very nicely.

The only problem now is my son's PC can't connect to the netgear network, but I can't be arsed to look today, I'll have a go tomorrow :)

Thanks all for your help so far, I might be back :wave
