    Hi.

I'm running Vista and with security coming from Norton.

Whenever I go into Internet Explorer, I get a Internet Explorer Security Dialogue box telling me that "a website wants to open web content using this program on your computer". When I click on the "more details" button it refers to C:\windows\system 32\gzmrt.dll "dll start

I click on "dont allow" and have tried to delete the file but to no avail. From the research I've done online, this 'aint a particularly nice file to have on my system.

How do I remove it please? I'm a bit of a novice with computers.

    Many thanks:cry

    Hi sidlettuceman!
    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please work through the READ & RUN ME FIRST and attach the requested logs when you get finished. You should begin to see some improvements as you work, but in any case, let us know how your computer is doing when you finish.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Many thanks for your prompt response.

As I said in my earlier message I'm a novice. I don't quite know what's gone on but..............I've managed to delete the file from Windows\System 32.

    However.........

When I re-load Windows and the instant I'm viewing the desktop screen, I get an Run DLL dialogue box saying "Error loading C:\Windows\system 32\gzmrt.dll" The specified module could not be found.

I remember from my Windows 3.11 days that there used to be a file called something like startup.ini or progman.ini and they basically told you what files/programs loaded up.

How do I get rid of this dialogue box please?

    Thanks

    Phil

    Hi Phil,

You have an infection which requires some effort to get rid of. See this website for more information: http://www.castlecops.com/tk39471-gzmrt_dll.html

Can you get to your desktop or does the dialogue box you've described prevent you from working on the desktop? If you can get to the desktop, please run the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST so I can look at your logs. The error message you're getting is an indication that you've damaged the malware but not gotten rid of it.
