Hacked Email Problem

A friend has had his email account hacked and is having problems with it now since he was able to change his password.
The problem is that all the good emails are going to his junk folder, while many junk emails are going straight to his inbox.
I have ran Malware bytes and SuperAnti Spyware to make sure nothing was on the computer and it all came back clean.
How do I help him straighten this out as hotmail has no clues on what is going to fix the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I would suggest your friend logs on to the webmail version to check for any rules/filters which may have been set while the account was hacked. It sounds like there is especially as Spam is appearing under Inbox.

 

He only has 1 computer, so that was not an option. I will remember that for the future, Thanks.

 

Yes I have a computer and live in another city than he does. He has tried to keep his passwords secret, but I will talk to him about his problem.
Is there anything else I should be looking for since I did run Malwarebytes and superantispyware and nothing showed up on his computer?

Have you checked for any email filters as I suggested?

 

I have not been to his place since I posted this and am trying to get all of his email information so I can go through it from here. Sorry I have not been as quick as I should of, but I do live several miles away from him.
I will be talking to him on Wednesday about his problem, and I have been learning where to look for Outlook settings to be better to help him.
